Those with infants...
What do you do when they are just inconsolable and you feel that you've tried everything for hours...

Re: Those with infants...
How old is your LO and what have you tried?
When DD was really worked up and there didn't seem to be a reason, I would try wearing her in the moby or nursing her skin to skin. Also, if it's during the day I would put her in the car and drive until she passed out.

Similar to previous poster. I would wear him facing toward me in my Baby Bjorn carrier. It would def help. Other than that I cried, too!! He is still fussy but earlier on he had terrible gas. What are you feeding him??? If it is gas related and you are FF, ask your ped about Enfamil Gentlease and Mylicon drops.

I haven't had that happen for hours but when she's crying I just go through the motions is she hungry, diaper, too cold, too hot, need a nap? Sometime she just needs a nap and and I swaddle her up is a cozy blanket, hold her tight and rock her in the glider...

myelicon drops, gripe water, moby wrap, driving around warm bath etc. Driving usually does it esp. at night. During the day it doesn't always work.

Re: Those with infants...
Cry. Seriously, ive cried right along with her i feel your pain... *usually* when shes inconsolable like that, i find its overtiredness or gas and she really just needs to be held tight, rocked and walked, usually with the pacifier til she passes out. The bath does not soothe my dd - it makes her inconsolable... but she is soothed by the car, walks and music. A lot of times ive just driven her for no reason or danced around the kitchen to my ipod with her.

Is my dd the only one who hates the car seat and the car?
If either one is really fussy I'll try rocking them, singing to them, a walk, fennel water if all else fails I give a little tylenol

I too have cried along with my DS. I had a couple of episodes when DS just wouldn't stop crying no matter what I did. Once was overtiredness, which I just did a LOT of shushing and stroking his face until he finally passed out. The other time was gas which there was absolutely nothing I could do to get him to calm down. He eventually tired himself out from all the crying. I have gas drops now so for now he has been good and (knock on wood) no more episodes.

Re: Those with infants...
so sorry, it's such a helpless, uncertain feeling. I would just rock her, it usually didn't stop the crying but at least she knew I was there for her. Sometimes she would stop the faster I rocked I her or if I bounced her up & down more.

Re: Those with infants...
Are you nursing? The boob was one of the only things that consoled DD during her witching hours. That and semi-vigorous rocking and walking around the house. We also tried gas drops and colic calm drops which helped! Hang in there and remember it will pass!!!

Re: Those with infants...
I had this with both of the twins!!! It was so brutal. It happened every night for hours! I would either moby wrap them both to me or stack them on top of each other (the top babies head on the other ones chest) and bounce them around the house. Sometime I would take them on the couch with me and rock them. They didnt stop crying, but at least I felt like I was doing all i could. The boob didnt help, a bottle didn't help, shushing didn't help, swaddeling didn't help.. Well all of those things helped, but not enough to make a difference. They are preemies and They just needed to be older.

Depends on how old. When DD was a newborn feeding her would help. She was just hungry. Sometimes a bath or walk int he stroller might help. When DD was a couple months old the Tiny Love mobile was amazing. It gave me 20 minutes of peace and quiet to do what I needed.

sometimes they are hot, so maybe remove a layer of clothing and take them by a window and open the blinds (Dont open the window though)
