Church and flu
I take DS to church every week bc I want him to be used to going and I have always felt it was a nice family tradition. Did it w my parents and sister too. DS is 4.5 mos old. With this crazy flu going around would you recommend skipping for a few weeks? TIA.

Re: Church and flu
I have a four month old and have been keeping her home as much as possible. I'm not taking her to church tomorrow or for the next few weeks.

Re: Church and flu
I have a 3 year old and we haven't been going to many places because of the flu and stomach bug that is going around. I know I can't protect him from everything, but he spikes super high fevers when he is sick and the last stomach bug put him in the ER... I would skip Church.... Some people will keep going even if they are sick!!!

Re: Church and flu
we just had a virus run through our house and most of our extended family. one of my 15 month old daughters is the one who started it. The only place she could have picked it up from was a shopping cart. I know that does not directly relate to church, but it is all over. I would stay home.

Just r,ember though you can go out and catch it yourself and it will be in your house. There is no hiding from it. Just take precautions like washing hands and face as much as possible. But to be on safe side I would limit young children's interaction with wide scale public.

Re: Church and flu
Maybe I'm too laid back but I would go with out even giving it a second thought. Not just church but with all the things we do. I always felt that if you keep your child away from everyone, they will never build a strong immune system. Thankfully DD has never been really sick but maybe I would feel differently & be more cautious if she had been.

I agree w that but to an extent. Church is extremely close quarters and the flu is airborne, meaning it can be caught without being sneezed on or touched. It's one thing for a baby to catch a minor cold but it is dangerous to let a 4.5 month old catch the flu. That can be deadly.
