3yo and naps
my toddler spoils me with his naps ... from almost 2pm till almost 6pm ... I should wake him right? He noramlly does 2 to 5, but even that is ridic, for his age isn't it? He gets about 10-11 hours at night.
How much does your 3ish year old nap? sleep?

3yo and naps
OMG! Wow! Dd is 3.5 and hasn't taken a regular nap in over a year. She will nod off in the car, and every once in awhile she will lay down on the couch and take a late afternoon nap but never for more than an hour. She sleeps 10-11 hours a night.

Re: 3yo and naps
DS is just about 3 & still naps 2 hours a day. 3 is he's very tired or not feeling well. A few days a week he may skip a nap though if we have plans that day. DS also sleeps 10 hours a night.

Re: 3yo and naps
My older DS was like yours until, about 3.5 years. But then we dropped the naps because it took forever for him to fall asleep at night...he woul be up in his bed until 10. But he napped a lot!!
Do not brag though... Because my second son dropped his naps at 2.5 years!!!!!

Re: 3yo and naps
Wow... My 3.5 yr old stopped napping when he turned 3. He was going to bed too late so when he left the daycare I stopped them. We have quiet time around 3ish I'd possible. He does go to sleep at 7 though.

Re: 3yo and naps
You know DD is just about the same age Until she started climbing out of her crib, she was napping from 2-4:30 or 2-5 and went to be at 8. She usually woke up at 7 but would sometimes wake up a bit earlier or later.
Now that she's in a bed, she naps for about 1-1.5 hours if she's tired, not at all if she doesn't feel like it - but she does nap more days than not.
If he falls asleep easily at night and isn't waking up too early in the morning I think you're doing fine, but if it were me I would wake him at 5/5:30 if you don't think he'll be too cranky.

My 3 year old only takes naps here & there but not.consistent. if he does nap, it ranges from 1.5-2 hrs. Since dropping his nap, he is sleeping 10 hrs at night.

Re: 3yo and naps
when my son was 3, he'd sleep for 3 hours. Even now at 4 1/2, he sleeps for 2 hours.

Re: 3yo and naps
My 3 y/o stopped napping daily right before he turned 2!!! He rarely naps now. If we are in the car, he will sleep. I can't let him sleep past 5pm though and he can't sleep more then 2 hours... He goes to bed around 9-10pm. If he happens to take a later then normal nap. Then it really screws up his bed time!!!

Re: 3yo and naps
DS naps if hes in the mood. We dont force him. If he naps then its about 2hrs and i make sure to wake him and not let him sleep past 4pm. If he doesnt nap he sleeps about 11-12hrs a nite. If he does nap the 2hrs then he slerps about 9-10hrs at nite.

Re: 3yo and naps
See, I am the opposite..I hate naps at that age, because then he doesn't fall asleep until later. I would say he stopped napping at home within the past 5-6 months...just turned 3 in Dec. Occasionally if we are out, he falls asleep in the double stroller, but that hasn't happened in a while. I love just being able to go and do stuff with him, and not having to worry about when his nap is, when he will wake up, etc.

Re: 3yo and naps
On average, DS will take a 2 hr nap but there have been plenty of times it's closer to 3 hours. They do not give them a long enough nap at nursery school (IMO) so I feel like he's tired a lot during the week and makes up for it with good naps on the weekend.

3yo and naps
My 3 1/2 yr old still needs a nap most days. She generally does about 1 1/2-2 hrs. I generally put her in when my 9 mo goes in for his second nap.

DD is 3 and she naps 2 hours every day. She could definitely nap longer but we wake her.

Re: 3yo and naps
our son will be three in may.
we do not let him sleep past 5 simply because he goes to bed at 730/8. On the days that he naps until 5 (usually weekends) I will let him stay up until 830.
he naps (generally) 1:30-4:30
wakes at 645 asleep by 8

Re: 3yo and naps
At that age my DD would be up at 7:30am, nap from 12:30 to 3-3:30 and then she was in bed (asleep) at 8pm.
I never let her nap past 3:30 in the afternoon otherwise her nap would interfere with bedtime. I would rather her nap less and be asleep early at night then the other way around. I like to relax at night!
