Myrtle Beach - Cost of flights from NY
I'm going to MB in July...the only airline that I can find that flies non stop from NY is Spirit. If I booked today...the cost for 2 adults and 2 children R/T would total around $800.
I've never flown to MB before...is this a good price? Should I book now or wait???
Thanks!!!!

Re: Myrtle Beach - Cost of flights from NY
i fly down to MB each year, i have only booked for me and DH, but they do have $24 off coupon sales from time to time, i just booked this past monday when they were having this sale and it was approx $306 for both me and DH after the coupon...(but, not including baggage or anything) this was also from a Wednesday to a Tuesday (which were cheaper days, but you can fare compare on their calendar when you look at dates). So, IMO $800 is not really that bad for 4 seats, depending on what days of the week you are leaving/coming back.

$200 per seat is good - like pp said, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the cheaper date.
You can also join their fare club for $65 which will take at least $9 off each leg of the trip per person - which would be at least $72 in total (only one member of the party has to join). Just beware that the membership automatically renews each year.
Also keep in mind that Spirit charges extra for everything except a carry on bag that fits beneath the seat in front of you - checked luggage, carry on bags, and if you would like to choose a seat beforehand (which you probably would want to do travelling with kids).

It's crazy that they charge extra for everything, but you're right...because I'm with the kids...I'll need to choose seat together.
We're flying out on a Sunday...and back to NY on Friday. Unfortunately, our travel dates are not flexible.
Thanks!

Just an FYI, if you are planning to rent a car while you are down there you can fly in to Wilmington which is about 45 mins north of Myrtle Beach. You will have more airline options in to Wilmington.

I don't know how much better the prices will get, but you can try to wait for a coupon if you want.

Jet Blue will start flying direct from JFK to Charleston in mid March if I remember correctly. If you were planning to rent a car anyway, it's about a 90 min drive (if I'm remembering that correctly!! My mom lives in Surfside Beach - a few miles south of MB and I've done the drive a few times to Charleston but now not sure about the drive time!).

Re: Myrtle Beach - Cost of flights from NY
We do myrtle every August. R/T for 2+2 is $1200 bucks so $800 is great. From NY spirit is the only one that flies to MB for now. They are putting a Delta expansion to the airport down there and I think Delta will start flying there from NY.
