did you gain more in the first half of your pregnancy or more in the second half?

i've only gained about 12 pounds so far and I'm 22 weeks. so it's been slow and steady. did you find you gained weight more rapidly in the second half or at the same rate?

I would say you gain the majority at the end..last 2 mnths when baby is growing & getting plump. It was like that for me. Average woman shld gain an average of 25-35lbs so it sound like your right on target.

Defintely more towards the end but steady for the most part once it started coming on. I am starting to notice more of a difference now for sure.

all in the first 20 weeks but I am atypical - 7-8lbs at 37weeks

Pregnancy #1- A lot at the end. I would say I put on 7 pounds in the last 6 weeks (I went 2 weeks early so never made it to 40 weeks). I gained 27 lbs. total.
This time- Again, not gaining too much in the beginning. I'm 21 weeks and gained 5 pounds. But I am definitely anticipating gaining a lot at the end again.

I'm scared. I'm 24w and have gained 0 pounds. I am waiting to start gaining.

I barely gained any weight the first two trimesters and then started gaining 2lbs a week in the third! When all was said and done I gained 30lbs so it evened out in the end.

With my DS, I gained pretty much a pound a week.

This pregnancy (with twins), I am only up 2lbs at 13 weeks.

Everyone is different.

I didn't gain anything until around 20w, maybe even a little later. I'm 35w now and up about 13 pounds. Typically you will gain more in the end because that's when the baby is an actual baby and gaining fat, and you're maxed out of fluids, placenta, etc. At the beginning, my dr told me to plan on gaining around 25-30 pounds, but I'll probably be closer to 20 by the end.

But, it all depends on your body. If you're eating healthy and being somewhat active, your body will gain what it needs to gain. It's better to gain a little at a time, but consistently, rather than all at once to help avoid stretch marks.

As long as your dr isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either.

Gained 10 lbs at 20 weeks. Now I'm 27 weeks and have gained 9 more.

First pregnancy I gained a lot the first tri because I ate carbs consta ntly to stop nausea. I gained weight slowly but steadily in the second tri. Gained nothing after 32 weeks, and was even indulging a bit then. Total weight gain...39lbs

Second pregnancy. Gained nothing until 20 weeks and even lost 5lbs. Then gained very rapidly. 9lbs per month for two months, and then steadied a bit. Total gain...29lbs.

Third pregnancy. Lost a fee lbs at first and then gained them back fairly quickly. At 18 weeks, I'm up about 6lbs from my weight the day of my positive test. I'm hoping to gain the least with this pregnancy becausr unfortunately my starting weight was higher than my other two. Hoping to get back to my original pre preggo weight within 6 mths of new baby.

i was told that people gain too much weight now a days.
she said that i started over weight, 15-20lbs was "plenty"

im going to stay active and see how that pans out....

i gain more than that looking at cake

I'm guessing I'll gain it all at the end. I'm 20 weeks and I started this pregnancy at 180lbs, I went down to 172 and have slowly been creeping back up. I am now 180.6 as of this morning, so I'm finally gaining. I have been crazy hungry at night recently and snacking so it's probably not the healthiest way to eat but hey, I've been so good, I can eat what I want within reason!!

I hate reading these - I knew that I shouldn't have, lol. I gained a little first trimester - then a considerable in my second (24weeks). Next appointment is Tuesday. I'm already 20lbs heavier. I can't wait to see how much I've gained.

Usually in the second half...I'm 21 weeks now and have gained about 8 lbs. With my first pregnancy I gained about 27 total, so I am guessing I will start gaining rapidly soon....

Up until 32 weeks I had gained around 7 lbs. Since then I've gained another 10. Definitely more towards the end for me!

Just wanted to add that everyone's weight gain is different because everyone's body starts out differently! As long as your doctor is ok with weight gain I wouldn't stress over it.
