Mother's Helper?
I'm toying around with the idea of getting a mother's helper an afternoon or two a week and then maybe 1-2 full days during the summer.
Has anyone done this before? I was thinking of an 8th or 9th grader, because i wouldn't be leaving either of the two kids alone with her, but rather may just need an extra set of hands for outings, to get some cleaning done, or cook dinner. I live super close to the local high school and I wouldn't mind picking and dropping her off, but where would I find her? How much would you pay?

I am also thinking about this as well. Where do you live? I'm in Floral Park and was thinking about calling Kellenberg Or FPMHS and asking if they have a babysitter list or something snd also thinking about putting an ad up in a local food store. How much would you pay an 8th or 9th grader per hour for two kids?

Re: Mother's Helper?
I would call the guidance office of the middle school/HS. You could also get in touch with the local church/synagogue's "youth group".
I'm a middle school teacher. I would also suggest the idea of using a 7th grader. Many of those girls are mature enough to handle the responsibility if an adult is there. I had a 7th grader help me for a few days last summer. I also had the 7th grader and her 9th grade sister babysit my twins together.

Mother's Helper?
I did it this past summer she was an incoming junior. I paid her $10 an hour.
