Home heating oil
Question for everyone how big is your home and what are you spending on oil per day, month or yr? This is our first winter in our new home and just curious as to what to expect.. Thanks:)

Re: Home heating oil
We locked in at $3.74 and when we first turned the heat on our bill for one month was $356 . We have a cape. Three heating zones, two of which we use.
Over the summer our bill is significantly lower.
GL!
Ps- Since we dont have kids yet, we never put our heat above 68. The temperature will make a difference on his much oil you will use.

Home heating oil
Locked in at $3.71. Pay $124/month on balanced billing.
When we're home & awake, the temp stays at 67-69. When we're out or sleeping, the temp is at about 60-62. We have a Nest thermostat which comes with an app for our phones so we can adjust it when we're not home in case we don't come home straight from work or if we're planning on coming home earlier than normal. It is well worth the price!
The oil heat is only used in 1 zone (basement is on electric heat) and is for the entire main floor of the house.

Re: Home heating oil
How big is your homes though? We completely gutted with new windows, insulation etc.. Our house is about 2300 sq ft.. So far we had two deliveries of about 100 gallons which cost us $400. We keep the heat at 69 during the day and 66 at night.. We just can't tell if what we did to the house has helped or not.. We came from gas which I know is cheaper..

Re: Home heating oil
Our house is 2300 sq ft, 2 zones..during day I jerp Tue main floor at 68 & then around 4pm it raises to 72. Our upstairs is at 67 until 4, then 70. We sleep with both thetmostats at 65. We got 200+ gallons right before Sandy which was $800, then bc we had no power & what not, we got another delivery early Dec for $500. Right now.we are 3/4 full.
On average, we were filling every 6 weeks & now with higher oil prices, expect to spend towards 3500+ for winter.

1500 sq. ft., newer windows (doublepaned), well insulated. We're not home during the day except for weekends so we keep it low. DH is a very warm person so when we're sleeping, we keep the heat very low and turn our ceiling fans on high b/c it gets very very hot. We've had 1 delivery so far, back in late October and we have 1/2 tank left. I'm pretty conservative with the heat. I'd rather bundle up under a blanket than pay more for oil!

Home heating oil
You cannot compare homes. Even if it is the same size. Windows an insulation make a huge difference and the direction the house is set in. Does it get full sun etc.
