If you've done an IKEA kitchen-
Did you have to make an appointment to sit down with someone at the store? I used the online planner but I have some space-related issues and I'm wondering how all this will work. DH and I are doing most of the work ourselves and we want to get it right!
TIA.

I would love to know this too. I'm actually sitting here using the planner right now.
I love how it lists everything with the prices for you - it makes it so easy to compare layouts.

I haven't used IKEA, but it seems you might just need spacers...it would be worth it to talk to one of their experts

I don't think you need an actual appt, but they are really helpful. I would go a little later at night or during the week when it isn't so crazy.

Thanks everyone- we are going tomorrow afternoon. I am hoping it won't be too busy. I'll update when we get home.

If you've done an IKEA kitchen-
WHat does an Ikea kitchen cost? I know prices vary but what is the range/amount saved by using them vs. a contractor, TY

Re: If you've done an IKEA kitchen-
I just priced out an Ikea kitchen for the house we are (probably) buying.
With cabinets, appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher), all the deco strips and trim and whatever their standard countertops were (which we would not get, but it gives you an idea) I think it was 7100. This is not a big kitchen, but there are a decent amount of cabinets.
ETA:
If you subtract appliances from that Ikea kitchen it was about $4000 (with whatever countertops Ikea adds as standard on the website planner).
For a similar cabinet layout at Consumers (some sizes were different because Ikea doesn't do 27"), no countertop but still all the trim pieces, I think the quote was about $10,300 -- and that was with one of the lowest priced maple Kraftmaid cabinets.

TIA.
If you're doing the work yourselves, I would talk with a planner. We didn't, but we had a contractor do the work and he gave us some feedback/suggestions about how to use the space.
