Those that use Revlon Colorstay foundation.....
I picked up some at CVS yesterday after reading everyone rave about it on here and I found this morning that it didnt cover or even out my skin tone AT ALL. I virtually looked the same with it on as I did with it off.
My question is - for those of you that love it....do you use a primer? Do you build up your applications? Do you use a concelaer in addition for trouble spots? ANy powder over it? What do you use/how do you apply?

May I reccomend you try something else? You may like Cover Girl Aqua Smooth Foundation.
It's creamy and has a nice coverage and always seems to help even out my skin tone. I've used it for years and even after I switch things up, I always end up back with it.
ETA: use a foundation brush to apply it.......I don't advise using the sponge.....the sponge seems to soak up a lot of the foundation and it goes to waste, you know?

Right, it is SO thin. I am used to MakeUp Forever HD foundation, but I thought Id give a drugstore brand a try...same results as always, LOL. I find it is the one thing I cannot skimp on.
As for the other one you posted....I have flaky dry skin in the winter, do you think that it would cling to the flakes?

Not as bad as other foundations, no. The Revlon Colorstay works wonders for some, but it's soooooooooooooooo drying, too. The one I posted is creamier and thicker, and feels like it has more moisture.
Have you tried any of the Garner BB creams, by any chance?

Re: Those that use Revlon Colorstay foundation.....
What I have found is that foundation is such a personal thing. What works great for someone, is horrible for someone else. I don't even really bother with reviews anymore on foundations- because no matter how many rave reviews something gets- it is rare it will work on my skin. Everyone's skin is SOOO different- so it's really a ton of trial and error with foundations.

It is SO true. I was hoping I would maybe love this and could stop spending a fortune on foundation.

Very true. I have bought Make Up Forever HD Foundation and haaaaaaaaaaaated it.
I'm always at the drug store, trying new foundations for the heck of it & then returning them. I always want the Next Best Thing.
The good thing is, if you have your receipt, you can return the Color Stay. CVS is great with returns.

I only use the oily/combo skin one. I use a primer and a foundation brush- it's very build able . YouTube the application, there are a ton of videos about Colorstay. Keep playing with it
PS I set it with Rimmel Flawless

Thanks, I will play around with it tonight! It got great reviews on Makeup Alley too, so I am hoping.
Do you use a flat brush or stippling?

I use this brush. I had a makeup artist give me a lesson at Ulta. This is technically a bronzes brush but it works great for foundation. And it's pretty inexpensive too.

Re: Those that use Revlon Colorstay foundation.....
I don't use any primer with the colorstay, just a little concealer for certain spots on my face (under eye, forehead). I apply it with a foundation brush and sometimes set it with MAC mineralize powder. I don't tend to need a lot of coverage so I think that's one of the reasons I like it.

If you find the regular Colorstay is too thin but love the colors/product, I definitely recommend the Colorstay whipped! It is SO nice!
