When did you switch nipples on bottle?
DD is now 3 month old and she is still on the slow flow nipple. She doesnt fuss when she is on it but MIL and DH feel she should be on a faster nipple. I was just wondering when did you switch to a medium flow nipple?

Re: When did you switch nipples on bottle?
I just switched from slow to medium at 5.5 months old. I tried at 4 months but he was gassy and drinking way too fast. This time around it took him a good week to get adjusted to the faster nipples.

How long does it take for your LO to finish a bottle. It takes DD about 15-30 mins to drink 5 oz

When did you switch nipples on bottle?
When DS was constantly falling asleep on the bottle I switched from level 1 to level 2. He was about 6 months old or so. Tried to switch from 2 to 3 about 10 months old and it was way too fast. He couldn't keep up with it so we stuck to level 2 until he came off the bottle at a year.

Re: When did you switch nipples on bottle?
My DD doesn't drink a lot, so the pediatrician recommended trying a level 2 nipple when she was still 2 months old, to try to get more in her. She didn't take it well at first, but did when we tried again a few weeks later. She's now 6.5 months old and we just started with a Level 3. Her intake is a little better with a faster flow, and she can tolerate it.

Re: When did you switch nipples on bottle?
When dd wasn't finishing her bottles anymore. She basically got tired and bored from sucking so hard on smaller nipple. I went to level 2 at like 6 months. She prob could have went to it a little earlier but I didn't know what the issue was

How much does she drink and how many times a day?

It varies. Before the level 3 nipple it was anywhere from 2-5 oz (usually 2-3.5) 5 times per day, plus a dream feed. She was getting under 20 oz per day and even had some bottles where she was taking 1.5 oz! Now, she is taking at least 3 oz per bottle, with more frequent 4s and 5s. Her ped just told me that he was okay with her getting 15-20 oz and three meals per day, so we can cut out one bottle if we want. For the past few days, she has had 5 bottles total and been between 17-19 oz, not counting an ounce or two in her cereal during the day.

When did you switch nipples on bottle?
DD is 3 months and we havent switched either. We have tired the med flow nipple and the milk just drips from the side of her mouth. So we went back to slow. We will try again soon, bc it takes her a very long time to finish a 4-5 oz bottle.

When did you switch nipples on bottle?
DS went from slow to medium sometime around 4 months. I waited because I wasn't sure but then daycare suggested it to me. He wasn't particularly fussy about the slow flow but it took him a very long time to finish a bottle. It was much better after we switched.

Thanks for posting! The whole 25-30 oz thing always gets me so worked up... We aim for that 25 ... (Dd has like 5oz, 5x a day) but sometimes she just doesn't want the entire bottle and will leave an oz or so and I get so crazy over it... I guess as long as ped is fine with her growth there's nothing to worry about right?

When did you switch nipples on bottle?
my SIl just switched to a level 2 nipple and my nephew is 2 months (he'll be 3 months on Jan 13) it was taking him about an hour to finish about 6 oz and he would fall asleep halfway through the feeding and she would have to wake him up again to finish the bottle. now it takes him much less time

My DD has never taken more than 25 oz, and that was only a few times, months ago. We now aim for 20, and that's not often. I drive myself crazy, but ped isn't worried since she continues to gain weight (somehow, but I have no idea how!).
