Ireland travel help

We are going to Ireland for a family wedding. We plan on traveling around Ireland before the wedding which is in Dublin .

I have been twice but am unsure what is the best way to do this as once was when I was young and the more recent trip we stayed in Dublin and did day trips.

We know we want to go to Galway and would like to see a couple other cities .

Do you think it is best to fly into Galway or Dublin and travel from there? Also what other cities so you recommend ? Hotel recommendations ? Thanks

We visited Ireland late last May ... we were with a small organized tour company by the name of Driftwood (vagabondtoursofireland.ie/driftwood/) and went from Dublin through the southwest and back to Dublin in 7 days ... I would think, for what you want to do, fly into Shannon and out of Dublin, since you'll end up there for the wedding ... we stayed in smaller places with our tour and loved just about every one ... the Coachmans Inn (Kenmare), the Dingle Bay Hotel (Dingle), the Gougane Barra Hotel (Cork), Abbeyglen Castle (Connemara), the Falls Hotel (Ennistymon) ... one thing that really stuck with me was the sheep farm we visited (www.kissanesheepfarm.com) - the trained herding dogs were amazing ... we only had a couple of hours in Galway but would've loved to explore more! ...
