Travel to Ireland
Would you take your 8 month old child on such a trip?
My mother in law just sent me the itinerary and here the number of hours of driving/travel for that day
Day 1-1.5 hrs Fay 2-6.25 hrs Day 3- 1.75 hours by train each way Day 4- 9 hrs Day 5- 0 Day 6- 10.5 hrs Day 7- 5.25 hrs
Im all for seeing as much as we can while we are there but I think this is a bit unrealistic... Im thinking of canceling the trip and just sending DH
I know she will sleep a lot of the way but thats a lot to ask and a bit unfair to her.
Maybe Im just being a silly first time mom

Re: Travel to Ireland
The travel hours it that the amount of time you are out and about each day?
I think it would depend on my child if they travel well and sleep on the go I would definately do it.
When my ds was 10 months we brought him to Ireland and had a great time. We traveled around and did sightseeing as well as visited the relatives. He was great the whole time.

I wouldn't mind taking my 8 month old to Ireland but, I'd only visit one or two places - your itinerary seems very busy and I think it would be quite stressful.

Re: Travel to Ireland
No WAY!!!!
DS is exactly 8 months old & he would not be able to handle that much traveling. You have to remember the plane ride too (not sure if you counted that).
I've been to Ireland (w/o DS). It's a very kid-friendly place. I'd stay in Dublin... there are tons of things to see that are short rides or even nice walks away from there.
edited to say: my kid id a great sleeper & I've taken 6 hour road trips with him when he was much younger... but 10 hours and 6 hours times multiple days is pushing any kid... but especially an 8 month old who will be into crawling & exploring.

No I wouldn't even want to spend that much time driving on vacation without a kid
