tips for sttn ?
DS is two months old and wakes up every three hours, give or take. I know he'll sleep longer when he's ready and i'm ok with waiting, but if there's anything i can do to help him STTN faster, that'd be even better
so ... any tips for me?

For us, the things that worked best were:
-Swaddling -White noise -Predictable, consistent bedtime routine -Lots of physical contact/ holding throughout the day (I read that babies who are held more during the day often sleep better at night- probably a security thing)
HTH!

This is really interesting and wonder if this is true for DS. Since 8 weeks hes been STTN and hes either home with my husband or myself. He is either constantly held during the day by DH or held by me when I get home from work. Hes a great sleeper!

For us I think it had a lot to do with adding cereal to her bottle. We did it b/c her doc suggested it due to her reflux. But I know a lot of people who increase the night bottle by an ounce in hopes that will push them. Another thing was just relaxing a little bit about each noise she made. For a while I was getting up and feeding her just because she was awake or making noise. Now that I leave her and just give the pacifier a few times, she goes back to sleep. Good luck!

Are you BFing? If you're FFing, try giving an extra once at bedtime. DS takes 4oz during the day but we give 5 before bed and that seems to hold him over so he sleeps longer.

Read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child
Lots of great age specific tips.
DD is about the same age. For us napping helped a lot; making sure we put her down to nap when she's tired and letting her sleep as long as she needs. When she sleeps better during the day, she sleeps better at night.
She still wakes up once a night but she's given us quite a few good stretches of sleep. Once 8 1/2 hours... that was nice. And her routine is more predictable; eat, play, sleep.

DS was held constantly because he was always crying (colic) and he never slept so I don't beleive it but glad it worked for you.

Re: tips for sttn ?
I think the best thing any parent can do is NOT tend to them when they make the slightest little whimper... You child has to learn on their own how to fall back to sleep... They go through sleep cycles just like we do only theres tend to be a little shorter so they wake up more frequently. My DD was sleeping 5-6 hrs straight at 2 months... So its quite possible you can get a longer stretch out of her at this age... Keep at it!
ETA: We now get 12 hours out of her... Either shes a great sleeper or what we've been doing works...

I never said it works for every child. Nothing works for every child. That doesn't mean it can't help. OP asked for tips, I gave her what worked for us. No tip is a cure all.

I agree, make sure she naps regularly during the day, and eats on a schedule. I think sticking to a schedule of feeding, naps, and playtime during the day helps a lot.

tips for sttn ?
thanks for the tips everyone
we almost always hold him during the day except maybe when he's napping so that tip doesn't seem to work for us either - too bad.
I'm going to try giving him a pacifier tonight rather than a bottle and hope he falls back asleep for a bit longer. Now that i think about it, I probably didn't need to feed him the first time he woke up last night - he was mostly asleep by the time his bottle was ready anyhow so maybe the pacifier trick would work ... cross your fingers for me
