Egg Retrieval on Saturay-still in pain??
I had my egg retrieval on Saturday and I should be having my transfer tomorrow. When they retrieved the eggs, they had to go through my stomach for the left ovary b/c of where my ovary is in my body. I am in so much pain. They did tell me I would be more sore than normal b/c of that, but I never expected it to be this bad. It's as bad as when I had a hernia surgery! I went into work today (they just told me to take it easy Saturday and Sunday) but I barely made it through the day. Do you think this is normal? I don't have a fever, any bleeding or and redness near the site that they had to insert the needle into my stomach. I really hope this month is it and it works because I don't know how much I would be able to do this if they have to keep going through my stomach!

It took 5 full days for my soreness to ease up.

I was VERY uncomfortable for 3+ days both times. I think (unfortunately) it is normal.
Feel better soon!

Re: Egg Retrieval on Saturay-still in pain??
The Dr didnt have to go in through my stomach, but with my first retrieval I was in a TON of pain. I couldn't stand up straight because it felt like I was stretching my stomach every time I tried not to hunch. It lasted for about 5 days before it started to get better. I later found out it was because I hyper stimulated.
This time around, I triggered with lupron instead of HCG and was told my overies would not swell as much and therefore the pain would be less. with the exception of some mild cramping and soreness, I was fine.
Not sure where your pain is, but it could be from your overies swelling (from large number of eggs) or from the procedure they had to do.

This is exactly how I feel, like I can't stand up straight b/c I feel like my lower stomach is just pulling and pulling. As my son said tonight, Mom you're walking like an old lady!
I have my transfer tomorrow so I will tell them about the pain, just to make sure everything is ok. I can't imagine that I am hyper stimulated, b/c they only 15 eggs. Is hyper-stimulation correlated to how many eggs are retrieved? Thanks!

are you very bloated? i had OHSS and was in a lot of pain and had a lot of bloating as well. if your e2 is very high or you are retaining a significant amount of fluid (ie. weight gain of fluid) they might postpone your transfer. OHSS has more to do with e2 levels than actual eggs retrieved. your e2 could be high even if they got 15 eggs. it generally should be 200-300 per mature egg but could be much higher depending on the amount of follicles you had or just how your body reacted to the meds. drink lots of electrolytes and eat small meals. good luck!

I haven't been too bloated, thought I might be a bit bloated yesterday but nothing alarming. I feel much better today though, so I guess it really is just going to take me a few more days to feel 100%. Was supposed to have my transfer today, but the nurse just called and changed it to day 5. That's a good thing, right? She said they were all growing well. Thanks for all the feedback!!
