PCOS and metformin
I started metformin a week ago and I wanted to know if anyone had success with just metformin or did you need the clomid and metformin to get pregnant. My ob/gyn gave me either option. Any success stories or vica versa.
TIA.

PCOS and metformin
metformin alone didnt do it for me the first time around. DD is an IVF baby. however post partum metformin has helped regulate my cycle a lot and I might be able to conceive on my own since i am ovulating now. it really depends how bad your PCOS actually is and if you ovulate or not. also note that metformin takes about 3 months to really work to its full potential. you may see some results the first month but you also may not. dont get discouraged, it does take time to see results. good luck!

ITA. Took about 3 months to work for me. Started it in late Sept, ovulated on my own right after holidays and had my IUI on Jan 2nd. Good luck!!!

Dr.B actually told me back 3yrs ago at my consult that it could take 6 months even. He said we had the option of waiting 6 months to see if I regulate or just start up treatments right away.
The reason we didn't wait and see if it would work is I was already getting impatient (yes, 3 yrs ago ... little did I know... ) and I was afraid of waiting the 6 months and not getting results anyway.

Re: PCOS and metformin
We did metformin and clomid and IUI and conceived our DS on our 1st cycle. Was only on metformin for a few weeks. Recently saw my RE and he said I could try clomid or metformin AND clomid, metformin alone wasn't an option.

Re: PCOS and metformin
If you guys don't mind... how much metformin are you all on? I couldn't handle the 2000mg a day that they wanted me to take... the side effects were justtoo much for me.... I am on 1000 right now and trying to stay strong.

I was on 1,000mg for a week now I am up to 1,500mg and staying at that amount. I couldnt imagine taking 2000mg a day my stomach hurts with just the 1500.

2000mg a day. I had to work up to that amount, but I've been at that amount for 2 months now, and I'm fine.
