clueless with appliances...
we need a refrigerator and a dishwwasher since ours was stolen from the house while we were in contract.... we were given a gift card to lowes and also 10% off there. I honestly have no idea where to start and what is even "good" or "reputable" is lowes worth it??? S hould I go somewhere else and use my giftcard for something else? Can you recommend fridges and dishwashers??? Stainless steel please :O)

We just bought all new appliances. I honestly don't know if any brand is as good as appliances used to be. That's part of the reason we went to an actual appliance dealer, so they could handle being the middleman when we had service issues. If nothing else, it's worth a trip to a specialty appliance place bc they often are more knowledgeable than the big box guys.
As far as brands, we went w the Electrolux refrigerator and our dishwasher is made by a company called Blomberg. We wanted stainless steel inside and out for the dishwasher so that limited our choices. So far I love them both.

We just got all our appliances from pc Richard. So far so good. All GE Profile brand.

clueless with appliances...
i have a GE fridge in out rental. french doors with freezer on the bottom. beautiful layout & lots of space, but it's super loud & clunky doors that don't shut so easily all the time.
we're in the market too, but i don't think i'd choose GE for a fridge. nor a dishwasher. my 15 year old dishwasher at my flooded house washed my dishes far better than this brand new stainless steel GE does.
and i wouldn't go with kitchenaid for a stove either. their gas burners are weird and it doesn't seem to heat evenly.
this is what i've learned.

FYI..if you have kids, the Frigidaire Stainless do not show any fingerprints.
