IMO they are a waste of space and money. I used to throw them in the kitchen garbage which gets emptied at least once per day anyway. I don't want dirty diapers sitting in my babies room - stinky or no stinky. JMO

Exactly how we felt. But we are also on one floor so it makes it a little easier.

Re: diaper genie or diaper champ - or something else??
We have the diaper champ and I love it....when the baby was born we were living in a third floor walk up so I needed something. Now we are in a house all on one floor and I still use it, IMO I'm not running out to the garbage outside everytime I change a poopy diaper. The champ does not smell in the room. It smells when you open it to change the bag, but it's filled with dirty diapers so it's to be expected. We change it frequently. I wanted the champ b/c it took regular garbage bags. Everyone is different and it's up to what you prefer.

Re: diaper genie or diaper champ - or something else??
We have and used the Diaper Champ. It's so much easier than the genie. The best feature is that you can use your normal garbage bags which is so much cheaper than the refills. Also, I never had any odor with them as well. My friend had the genie and that thing always stunk.
When they get older I didn't use it as much, but I did use it for a long time.

we use this $14.99 at BRU. We use regular garbage bags with it. Works great and hold a lot. If its a really stink diaper I'll put it in a small plastic bag (like from the grocewry store) and tie it shut and then throw it in.

Don't bother with either of them! Waste of money, mine went into the attic at 4 months...before then I struggled with those stinking bags and it was just a palaver!!

DH and I feel the same way, except we have 2 floors. I have very very small pail in her room, that seriously only holds 1 days worth of diapers, and I only put pee pee ones in them, and that's only when i change her upstairs. It gets emptied everyday, otherwise everything goes in the kitchen trash.

this is what I put on my registery. I heard you can also put an air freshner inside the cover where that blue part is.
I felt it was a waste of money if I "had" to buy refills of some type of bag for a diaper pail- thinking future save money.

Just wanted to add that any poopy diapers go in the blue powder smelling bags before I put them in the champ.

We have those scented bags too - they often get more than one diaper in them before hitting the pail outside, but there's no smell and no need for any other contraption.
