Gel manicures
What kind of gel manicure do you get and do you love it? I'm thinking of giving it a try. I know there's OPI and Shellac, but know nothing about them.
An while we're at it, can anyone recommend a salon in or near Farmingdale for it?

Gel manicures
I have the shellac. My place offers both nut the color I have on was the shellac version. I love it but note you can't get it off with nail polish remover. Tried and failed. You have to go back to the salon. But it lasts 2-3 weeks with no chipping which I love. Got it on my toes when I went away and a month later still looks perfect.

Re: Gel manicures
Cnd shellac
The OPI gel chips faster and wrecks your nails on removal

Gel manicures
only use the kind that look like regular polish (in bottles), and not the kind in the pots...those are harsh

Gel manicures
There are two types of gels. Soft gel and hard gel. Soft gel, like CND shellac or Gelish soak off, is more like a polish. Then there are hard gels (the ones in pots) that are used to create nails enhancements, just like acrylic. Hard gels are harsh on the nails, they aren't soaked off, they're filed off. Soft gel, shellac or gelish can be soaked off.
I like CND shellac, its more of a hybrid polish

Re: Gel manicures
I've done shellac and opi, and both times I developed ridges under my nails where the polish ended, and had to wait for them to grow out. So, I've stopped using gel.

Re: Gel manicures
I get the shellac and I love it! I get tiny chips by the third week but to me it's a lit better than a regular manicure that chips a day later.
