moving at the same time baby is due
We are scheduled to close on a house right around the same time baby is due (assuming all goes according to plan). Once we close, we will be doing some renovations before moving in. I have no idea how long that will take so I don't know how long we will be in our apartment after baby is born... could be a couple of weeks, could be a couple of months...
so i don't know how to organize myself... should we have a whole nursery set up even if we end up just being there just a couple of weeks??... Other than a bassinet, what are the essentials that we will need in baby's first few weeks? I don't want baby moving in to an empty apartment full of boxes but i also dont want to wait to start packing until after she's here when we will just want to enjoy her... so i'm not sure how to go about this.

Re: moving at the same time baby is due
All you really need in the beginning is a bassinet, bath essentials, feeding essentials and bouncer or somewhere to put the baby while you're doing house work or what ever it is.
I would pack as much now because once the baby is here, the first few weeks will be all about the baby and you getting rest in between especially if you're thinking about breast feeding.
Good Luck!!

Re: moving at the same time baby is due
We moved when my DS was 5 weeks old from Manhattan to LI. My shower was on LI so I went through all the stuff after and left most at my parent's house and only brought essentials back with me.
We had in the apartment
infant car seat stroller bouncy seat diapers/wipes clothing 2 bath towels bathtub bottles/formula playmat blankets
That was about it. We were in a one bedroom and DS has a bassinet so I didn't have to worry about a nursery.
We didn't close on the house until after he was born, so we did not pack anything in advance. It honestly wasn't that hard to pack once he arrived. I just did a little bit at a time while he slept.

I'd say go with a bassinet and changing table that you can line up the shelves with cheap canvas bins to hold all the clothes. A swing or bouncer. Bath stuff. I got great over-the-door pocket organizers for closet doors to keep blankets, towels, washcloths, and other random stuff.
I'm trying to make a 1-bedroom apartment work for us so let me know if you need any other space saving ideas!

Re: moving at the same time baby is due
I closed on my house the day my twins were discharged from the Nicu. We were living in a studio apartment so we stayed with my parents for a few weeks while we did some work. I would only do the essentials. I was amazed on how little a baby needs initially. Leave as much as you can in the boxes etc so much easier to move. When we moved in I had some girl family members and friend mommies help me unpack, wash stuff and organize. We ordered the furniture from behrs and told them our situation and they were willing to hold it until we moved. Honestly looking back it wasn't bad at all!!

Re: moving at the same time baby is due
I have no advice, but just wanted to wish you luck!
DH and I moved almost 2 weeks ago when I was 29 weeks pregnant and it was not easy! My advice is to leave almost all the packing to your husband since it's exhausting. Plus, you really can't bend or lift heavy things.
