I really dislike xmas cards that imo sexualize little girls
I don't have a girl so maybe I'm off base. Today I got one, nothing really explicitly sexual, but just like a sexual look to it. You know, the serious like pout, something about the body positioning. I think the mother is imagining it as almost a modeling shot, but to me it's just inappropriate.
If I had a girl I'd probably buy her some trendy clothes etc. bc it looks like fun but I think I'd draw a line when she started to look too womanish or something. Idk. Just a rant I guess.

I know exactly what you mean. Just shopping for girls' clothes is a whole set of problems, because the sexualization of their clothing starts so young. I feel like I can't even buy my 3.5 yo DD many clothes at Target anymore-- she's very tall and growing out of the toddler sizes, and most of the girls' clothing is over-sexualized and trashy-- what are they showing off with these clothes? little undeveloped childlike bodies? Disgusting!

I have a girl and I agree. I am always careful to make sure she looks cute and childlike, not like a girl imitating a woman. Especially on something like a Xmas card that so many people will receive.

I know what you mean! I saw one photo that was a sample for a Christmas card, on shutterfly or one of those websites, that showed a baby girl from the side wearing a top, and leg warmers, but no bottoms and no diaper, laying on her back with her legs straight up in the air. It just seemed too Victorias secret ad to me. The same pic with pants on would have been cute.

We went to a party for a four year old yesterday complete with hairstyling, hoochy dress up clothes, makeup, manicures and pedicures. They played club music and told the girls to shake their booties. It just didn't sit right... They looked like they would attract the wrong kind of attention.
Totally inappropriate.

I know exactly what you are talking about and completely agree. Last year a family member sent out her holiday card with her 2.5 yr dd in a fedora and bikini. I just think bikinis on little girls are inappropriate. I have a dd and you will never see her in anything like that.

These stupid leg warmers (leggys) are a new trend amongst the etsy sellers and some photographers. I frickin hate them!! I don't get them at all. 
I haven't seen any hoochy cards but some if the dresses out were hideous.
I blame honey boo boo.

I see leg warmers a lot but they are baby legs to me. They are used with cloth diapers so you can have a shirt on the baby and you use these instead of pants while at home so you can see the diaper. Totally cute if it's done right. Saw has a red tee-shirt, a spider man diaper and baby legs that look like spider webbs. It's so cute :)

On another note, I have seen some little girls in dance class with thigh highs (I guess leg warmers?) and no stockings, little butts hanging out of the dance gear since no stockings are on. It just doesn't sit right with me, looks like thigh highs. I would never let my DC wear this.

I think any pictures, not just Christmas cards, that sexualize any child are inappropriate.
I just don't see the "cuteness" in it that other parents see. It makes my skin crawl, and my husband agrees with me.
Children grow up way too fast on their own. I'm sure as sh!t not going to promote that type of behavior at such an early age.
Whatever happened to the innocence of childhood?

I don't see anything wrong with cute leg warmers, as long as they are worn with tights or leggings. I do hate those lace "leg warmers" I see on some little girls now. My DD has cute cotton ones and knitted ones she wears when it's really cold out and she wants to wear her uniform dress, but the dress is down to her knees and she always wears thick tights or leggings too.
But OP I know what you mean about the cards/pictus and I agree.

do you mean the lace rompers ? (i think that's what they are called) a girl I know sells those and business is booming, she can barely keep up with orders, she does NB - 12 sizes and they sell out like crazy. I can't stand them , would never buy one for my DD not that she would wear it. She hates stuff like that .

OMG those things bother me so much. im glad im not the only one. i just dont understand why people think lacy lingerie is appropriate on a child. and im pretty lenient, i put DD in bikinis and leg warmers. but i gotta draw the line somewhere..

Funny.
I'm fine with NAKED pictures of babies and butt shots. I think that's NOT sexual.
That being said... I can't IMAGINE lipstick on a little kid. I even have issues with nail polish (I know... I may be painting my DD's nails in 2 years...).
