*update* Testing before BETA
Do most of you guys take a HPT before your beta? When I told DH my beta is on Wednesday, he got all excited and said he wanted to call out of work so we could find out together. When I told him it was a blood test and that they would call me later that day with the results, he was really upset. I was thinking maybe I would do a HPT before going to the dr so we can "find out together".
ETA:
apparently my Dr's office doesn't appreciate it when people "cheat" and test before the BETA. Note to self, (and others) if you're going to test before, don't tell your Dr.

Re: Testing before BETA
I have never waited till the beta to find out. In my opinion, it's good to go in prepared. No cycle is ever a guarantee and while it's great to be positive and take the day off to celebrate, etc..... you just never know what news the day will bring. For ME personally, I would test together and hope for the best and if it's not the news you expect, you have each other to lean on. I think going into it realistic is best.
Good luck!

Testing before BETA
DH and I ALWAYS tested together even when I wanted to wait for the beta. we personally felt that neither of us wanted to know before the other, we were both in it together and it was very important to find out at the same time. after my IVF we took an HPT the night before the beta because we specifically wanted to find out together and we couldnt figure out a way to do that otherwise. if you want to find out together and its a work day you should def take an HPT beforehand.

Testing before BETA
DH and I would always test before my Beta. I like to be prepared so when I would get a phone call with the results it's easier to accept.

Testing before BETA
I have always tested before the beta so I can go in knowing...it helped me so that I was not emotional during the beta but after my failed IVF cycle I still cried when they were drawing blood...

I've either tested before my beta or gotten AF before my beta. I'm not very patient so see no reason to wait for a blood test when I can easily find out the results ahead of time and be prepared.

Re: Testing before BETA
I could never make it passed 10dpo before I tested, so I give you a ton of credit for being able to wait!!!! However, I would definitely test before your BETA, even if it is the morning of... that way you are prepared either way. GOOD LUCK!!!

Testing before BETA
I'm the odd man out here b/c I did not test before my beta this time. My last 2 cycles I was POAS like crazy and it was a daily disappointment and put a lot of added stress and pressure on us.

Testing before BETA
First time, I tested ahead of time. I was tearing up during my appointment since I knew it was BFN. Second time, I didn't test. When they called me with the results (BFN), I cried then. I think testing ahead of time was worse for me because then I had two separate instances where I was sobbing.

Sorry. I can totally understand your point.

Re: *update* Testing before BETA
They always tell you not to test ahead of time because they don't want you to get a false positive (because the trigger is still in your system).

I guess not always! I am positive nothing was said to me. Maybe they forgot. I also was under the impression that the lupron trigger doesn't give you the false positive I might be wrong about that. Didn't really research the topic.
