How long does a cold normally last?
Last week DD developed a cold on Saturday. Took her to the dr. on Monday because she had a temp of 101 on Sunday. She was clear and had some fluid in her ear. They said just to look out for fever but it wasn't an infection yet. A week later and she sounds just as congested! No fever, not overly cranky, but sleeping a lot during day and hard to put to bed at night. She's 8 months old. Is this normal or should I take her in today on a Sunday?

Colds can last from a few days to up to two weeks.
I just got over a brutal cold that lasted two straight weeks. DD has had quick and easy colds that came and went and others that have knocked her out for over a week. If its just some congestion and even a low grade fever I wouldn't sweat it, no need to run to the ped because there isn't anything they can really so for a cold. Just keep an eye on her. If anything changes, like if she spikes a fever or gets worse, then bring her. For now I would just keep her comfortable and let it run its course.
Hope she feels better soon.

How long does a cold normally last?
My ds just had a cold that lasted 10 days. It was brutal! Naturally the day I gave in and made a drs appointment was the day it magically disappeared! Hope your LO feels better soon!

It could last weeks. I may take her in if she's sleeping a lot in day and not good at night only because the fluid in the ear could've turned to infection and I'd want to get that checked. Hope she feels better soon.

It can take my dd up to two weeks when she gets a cold. I usually give her a vapor bath every night and put baby Vic's on her and it helps with her congestion. It sucks when they are sick, I feel your pain. My dd woke up this am sneezing and coughing.
