Anyone trim their DDs long hair themself?
Does anyone trim their DDs long hair themself? Or am I crazy to even think of this? Only reason is b/c I can't find anywhere to go that sounds good.
eta - I am NOT a hairdresser lol. But I used to do a good job at cutting my DHs short hair (not just buzzing it either).

I don't cut the back of her hair because we're letting it grow long but I cut my dd bangs every few weeks. I just use a hair scissor. They come out good. I'd trim the back if her hair if I wanted to. I'm not a professional but I could do a trim. I'd never attempt cutting a lot of hair or layers or anything else like that.

Tried it since I do cut my son's hair (well buzz it), but it didn't work out for me. I can't cut paper on a straight line, so I don't know why I thought hair would be different!!! I have taken my DD to Kids Cuts in Centereach without issue, Lemon Tree, and another local family salon. They all do a fine job. She has wavy thick hair, and it's really only a matter of cutting it straight across, so I have yet for them to screw it up. Now I did go to the Kids Cuts in Port Jeff at the Harborsquare mall, and I wouldn't recommend that place. She decided my DD needed layers a few years ago, and I was not happy at all.

LOL I tried and FAILED .. I can cut a straight line but she has a cowlick up front so if I tried it was straight wet, and badly waved and WAYYY to short dry. I learned my mistake and I just dont anymore. Thankfully our kid cut place (sharkey) only charges $4 for a bang trim.
Based on my experience with her bangs I won't touch the back. I get it trimmed every few months but only because I feel trimming promotes growth. Her hair keeps its straight edge cut very nicely.
Best part is we go every 4-6 weeks for her bangs and get our card punched so basically every second full hair cut is free (10 punches = free hair cut) lol!
