Do you think there is any chance for trying for a VBAC with twins?

I had a c-section with my DS and after lots of thought, I had ultimately decided that I'd want to try for a VBAC when we got pregnant again. Well, we found out that we are having twins this time around. Do you think any OB would even consider this (considering both babies are in the proper position of course!)? I don't see my OB until 12/10, and plan on asking him then.

It depends on the reason you had the first c-section, it possible but not many mds would agree

I would say there is a possibility of it...I also had C for my first, and was considering VBAC for second..low and behold..twins.

Dr. said it was still a possibility if they were in the right position, but due to how traumatic my first delivery was, I have opted for repeat C..I need a controlled enviroment..

But depending on resaons for first C...I think you def. have a shot at the VBAC Chat Icon

i would say if you are in NY the chances are low. is it possible, sure, but you will have to find an OB and hospital that will let you. if you are not high risk based on twins alone, you might want to try a midwife, and see if you can find any that have experience with both twin vaginal births and VBACs. good luck

It may be possible but it is really going to depend on the doctor.

Some doctors are pro c sections for twins all the way. I know my dr pushed for that from the beginning. With the fear being you deliver one vaginally and then baby b has all this new room and then flips then you need a c section for the second.

There are however many drs that will let you try for a v birth as long as they are in position.

If it is really important to you it may come down to finding a dr that is willing to give it a try. but I also agree with the pp it will also depend on why you had a c section for your ds.

Congrats again!

Thanks ladies! My DS was 1 week overdue, measuring big and my OB didn't think an induction would be successful since I wasn't dilated/effaced at all. Im going to bring the possibly of a VBAC up at my appointment, but after doing some research on the topic, I doubt he'd let me go for it. I ultimately want a smooth delivery, so if that means giving up on a vaginal birth, then that's what I'll have to do!

I would encourage you to interview other providers as well or consider a midwife.

I was 2 weeks overdue with my attempted vbac. From all my research in trying to vbac #3 it seems like the only options are Gaia midwifery, possibly Stoneybrook midwives or my OB Dr. Byrne in Garden City . Maybe just give them a quick call and see if they could consider taking a VBAC patient with twins.
