My new nail obsession
Essie's Matte About You topcoat!!
I just did it on black nails and then painted tips with glossy topcoat like a french. I am in LOVE!!
I only just did it so I have no idea how it will wear. However, most home manicures for me only last 1 day anyway so I don't have high hopes.

Of course mine doesn't look nearly as neat as this but for a first trial it looks kinda cool,

I guess if they had the matte top coat you could just ask for black with the matte top coat and a "french" line of clear. Maybe bring the picture with you.

THat looks so cool!
But let us know how it wears- I have heard matte polish chips off super easy which is what has kept me from it... I can barely keep regular polish on!

So when you did this at home.
You did 2 coats of the black polish.. then what?
Did you do the glossy top coat on the tips first?
Or did you do the matte first and then the gloss on the tips?

Answering both questions.
First it chipped the next day but, I have to say that is totally normal for me. I can paint my nails at night and they are chipped when I wake up. It didn't peel off in sheets like glossy does for me. It will lift in the corner and the whole freaking nail peels off.
SO, I guess I would say it wears about the same.
Of course dark always chips faster than light anyway.
So, as far as the mani, I did a basecoat, 2 coats of OPI black and then a coat of the Matte top coat. Then I did the drying drops and let it totally dry and did the clear french part. One nail got all smushed so I took it off this morning and tried to do the clear at the same time and for some reason it didn't show as well. For some reason I think the key is to let the matte dry and then do the clear tips.

I absolutley LOVE the way this looks.
I may even try it with a dark dark plum/burgandy- like Lincoln Park after Dark- which isn't black, but it's close to it.
