hiccups

how come my girl gets hiccups at least 3 times a day and i dont think the boy gets them ever. i dont really feel much of him based on his placement, so i've never felt them.
i know it has something to do with helping their lungs but do hiccups mean something, like they're going to have super strong lungs or have reflux? i think i read that the reflux is a myth though...

Re: hiccups

With my DD, I never felt hiccups and she had reflux, but never seemed to bothered by it (she just spit up a lot)

DS had them all.the.time. He has reflux also but is very bothered by it (he has been on medication for it since he was 2.5 weeks old).

I have no idea the 2 things are in any way related though.

ETA: he still hiccups a lot now

Re: hiccups

At my last mw appt she was picking up hiccups on the heart rate monitor and she explained that it's a great sign. It means that the baby's lungs are practicing expanding and taking in amniotic fluid. DS#1 had lots of hiccups throughout my pregnancy.

Re: hiccups

When my mom was pregnant with me I had the hiccups multiple times a day, every day. I had no problems after I was born! It's just the baby practicing swallowing. Don't worry about the babies having or not having them. Both are common.
