Hospital Bill Question?
Just wondering if any of you know the answer to this?
Under DH's insurance there is a Hosptial co-pay that we'll have to pay when I have the baby. We called the insurance to find out if that co-pay would be just for me; or for me and then an additional co-pay for the baby? The rep told us it would be just for me; unless they admit the baby and have to run tests. That just doens't make sense. Isn't the baby admitted upon birth? Do the hosptial bills you received related to your stay only pertain to you and not the baby? I can't imagine that...since we have to notify the insurance of the babies birth to get them covered.

I'm pretty sure I only had to pay a co pay for me.

Dh and I actually called his insurance back and got a more more knolwedgable representative who told us it will only be the co-pay for me. The baby does not have a co-pay while in the hospital.

I was told the same... but then my DS was in the NICU and we had an additional 300 co pay for him.

with my son, we paid a $500 copay for me and the same $500 copay for the baby.

It really should only be for you unless the baby is admitted into the NICU. The birth is basically all covered under you as one "event."
