i made a mistake waiting so long to get my car seat inspected- UPDATE
every place i've called is suspended or cancelled due to sandy and not set to start up in the next couple of weeks, OR they just dont return calls.
so far ive called and left messages with LIJ, GCPD, Chris and a place in Forest Hills.
anyone doing it this or next weekend and have a lead?

UPDATE: I got a call from LIJ, so im doing it Saturday

Please only use a certified inspector from the link the other poster provided. The problem with calling FD or PD (unless there is a certified inspector there) is that if they do it, it still may not be done correctly and can cause a huge liability fuel for yourself, your children as well as them. Having a non certified person install it is not better then you doing it yourself.

I went to St. Marys children's hospital in bayside to have it done. Try them. The one thing she told me which I didn't know was to really tighten it you need to put weight in the base. So have dh lean into the center of the base and then pull the strap tight!

I have a question, I read the manual for my car and the car seat, and watched a YouTube video on how to install it. It seemed pretty straightforward. What are usually the issues they find if you get it inspected?

I have no clue but judging by how we can barely put my niece IN her carseat, I wasnt taking any chances.

I had the same issue...there is a number in here for Great Neck Audi...a really nice and certified guy named George! He actually came to my house the same day I called him, last Friday! He charges $40 per seat...well worth it!

Most told me with DC that they close in the winter and reopen in April but DC was born in Feb...
