Baby Shower - a surprise or not?
I'm wonder if most of your baby showers are/were a surprise? I don't want to be surprised at all but I am the first one in my immediate family to have a baby and I know they want to surprise me. I'm stressed and I just don't want a surprise.

I will be planning my own shower...I planned my own bridal shower...I dont want to put people out financially so I prefer to pay for everything and if my friends want to help with games and stuff that would be cool. I am also a control freak, lol

I know my MIL is planning it and I'm sure she will include me in some of the planning but most of it will be a surprise. I'm so worried about because I think I will be disappointed. I have celiac disease and can only eat gluten free. I've made it very clear I need my cake to be guten free. I have a bad feeling I will have my own plate of gluten free CRAP and a small GF cake just for me.
Also I asked her to make sure she includes my mom who lives out of state, and noone ever does it how I would like. EVER! Maybe I should just take charge with my mom since I could plan the crap out of a long distance party.

I did not want my shower to be a surprise. I wanted to know the date and I didn't care about knowing anything else. The place and all the special little touches were all a surprise to me.

Ditto. I wanted to get my hair and makeup done and wear what i wanted to wear. I hate surprise parties in general, but especially when the only surpirse is when and where it is.

I'm newly pregnant so no shower details in the works but most likely my mom and sister will be planning it primarily. I don't want it to be a surprise and will let them know.

I would have LIKED mine to be a surprise but there's no way my friends and family could keep a secret from me so of course, I found out.

My first was a surprise..but if I have a boy this time my mom wanted to throw me a shower and I already told her I dont want a surpise and want to help plan it.

I told my mom at about 8 months pregnant I am not going to want to walk into a room full of people taking pictures unless I am dressed and looking pretty. I told her, no surprise but I don't want to know details. No location, no who's coming who's not, no theme, no invite, nothing! Maybe try that. It's a compromise. I actually love surprises. With my bridal shower someone ended up telling me but when I walked into the shower I was still "OMG" and crying to see the work put into it and the people who came to support me and DH.
