12 week appt yesterday
I had my 12 week appointment yesterday. I met with the other OB in the practice, Dr. Tomlinson. He was very nice and DH really likes him. HE wasn't going to give me a sonogram but I shed a tear and he felt bad so I got to see a fuzzy picture....It was only an external so it wasn't much, but it worked. I also heard the heart beat so at least I know everything is going good. He informed me that I won't get to see the baby again until 20 weeks, I can't imagine how I will wait that long!!! I'm second guessing my decision to not have the NT scan...Oh well!

So glad the appointment went well!! Trust me; those 8 weeks will FLY by!! And you'll get to see your LO again before you know it!! You could always do an elective sonogram at 16 weeks-some girls have done that if you wanted to find out the sex before the 20 week A/S.

I love Dr.Thomlinson. I think you can have the NT scan up to 13 weeks. If you change your mind maybe they can fit you in.

Yeah he told me, unfortunately I am without a car and would need to ask for a ride....so it's hard to figure out logistics.....

I agree that if you think it's too long, you can get an elective gender scan. Plus, once you start feeling the baby moving and kicking, sonos become less important. Feeling the baby will give you the reassurance that everything is ok.
And, I hate to break it to you, but your 20w sono may well be your final sono of the whole pregnancy! A lot of insurances only cover 8w, 12w and 20w sonos.

The NT scan is just an external sonogram where they measure certain things on the baby. It sounds like you had the external sono just not the measurements taken. How come you opted out?

DH is dead set on not doing those tests. Once they told him the chances of false positives and how they can be wrong he didn't want to put me through the stress. He knows I am a worrier so he didn't want to cause any more!
I'm okay with only one more sono at 20 weeks, I just come on here and everyone posts these amazing sono pics and I haven't had that yet. I know I am early and at 20 weeks it will be a good pic. I'm just happy Baby is growing and has a heartbeat!

Don't worry! The next few weeks will fly by; and you'll have an amazing experience seeing LO at your 20w U/S.
And like others poste above; you can do an elective sono (you have to pay for it) at about 16 weeks if waiting 2 months is too long. There isn't any testing involved. Usually it's just an elective sonogram to find out the sex of the baby.
