Treating a basement that was flooded

We pumped out the water and removed carpets..and threw everything away.. we had 4 feet of water and all of our furniture was destroyed. My dh. removed many of the walls. My concern is what will come. My friend suggested we get an enviornmental clean up company that has special equiptment to treat area so mold does not form. We also hat sewage water mixed with salt water.

Does anyone have any experience with having this tye of work done? Do you have any companies to recc.?

If you removed everything that got wet, then I'm not sure you need to worry about it.

My parents had about 4 feet of canal water come into the first level of their split - We had ServPro come extract the water (they were basically handling the issue for the entire block/neighbhorhood). They said they would normally come back when everything is dry to spray down the furniture, etc., with special cleaning/microbe products. However, since my parents threw out all of the furniture and fixtures, and are going to have the walls taken out and insulation ripped out of the crawl space to have new walls and insulation put in, they said it wasn't necessary. The floors were a water resistant linoleum, so we just bleached them.

I think you only need to worry if anything porous got wet and you are keeping it, in which case I would consult with a cleanup/restoration company about having the surfaces/furniture treated.
