I feel like a foundation rookie
I have started to wear more makeup now that I am a SAHM with a DC in kindergarten. I actually go out now!!!!
So my usual foundation is the Clinique even better and I do love it but I want to try new things.
I watched a few Youtube videos about foundation last night and so many said to use a stipple brush for foundation. WHAT?!?! I never heard of using a brush for liquid makeup. And a powder to set it? Huh? I'm so confused.
So which is your fave foundation for oily/normal skin with some breakouts? And your fave brush? And powder???
Any help would be very appreciated!

Re: I feel like a foundation rookie
I only do that whole foundation and setting powder/spray routine if I'm going somewhere good but for just everyday dropping off at school supermarket etc... I will use a BB or a tinted foundation when I feel like putting makeup on.

Re: I feel like a foundation rookie
I use a Smashbox tinted primer trial I bought at Sephora that's green because I have a lot of redness around my nose and chin.
Then run-of-the-mill Cover Girl liquid foundation. I did buy Clinique concealer but I find it dry and cakey but I might just be doing it wrong.
I wear NYX powder foundation on top, but just a light dusting. I have an oily T so the whole "set with powder" thing doesn't apply to me. I get shiny and have to put more powder on mid-day.
I just bought a nice (expensive) brush from Sephora the other day and see the difference with the application. It's one of the dark brushes with the whitish blue bristle ends. So soft.

Re: I feel like a foundation rookie
I use Lancome Teinte Idole with this brush
This EnKore video is helpful. I put the foundation in the palm of my hand though, b/c it soaks in to the back of my hand too much which wastes it & is also hard to remove in a hurry.
My 2nd favorite is Revlon colorstay.
Most powders cake up on me, so I just use a little of my bare minerals foundation as powder to set my foundation.

I wear origins moisturizer and it somehow tints your face to the perfect base shade. Then I do the Bare Minerals concealer, foundation, warmth, and mineral veil. It sounds like a lot but it's all minerals and feels/looks very natural. For a liquid I have no idea. I used to wear Estee Lauder double wear and liked that so maybe i'll go try that again. I always did Bare Minerals Mineral Veil as my powder. It's just so nice!

Re: I feel like a foundation rookie
yes, I started using a brush with my liquid foundation..what a difference! I've heard the colorstay foundation by revlon is good. I was going to try the clinique one.

Revlon Colorstay....best foundation ever!!
I may just try this one first before heading to Sephora for foundation. My cart has over $130 worth of stuff already.
How is the Revlon Colorstay for oily skin? Mine is definitely combination but never dry.

Make ure the bottle says oily/combo. There is a dry skin one that looks exactly the same. I'm very oily and love it!

Same here, but I use Neutrogena concealer. I actually started using Neutrogena's "Sunkissed" bronzer during the winter, too, since it's a bit lighter than the warmth. I use warmth in the spring/summer though.
