BTDT - Preeclampsia?
for any of you ladies that actually have been through this, can you tell me what you felt/went through that clued you in that this was something you had?
I have high blood pressure to begin with and when I last went to see my Dr. on Tues, my blood pressure was elevated. I already take medication for my HBP daily, so hoping it was just a fluke and it will go down on its own since its been doing very well since I found i was pregnant.
Any signs to look out for? just worried. Thanks!

BTDT - Preeclampsia?
When I had preeclampsia with my daughter, one of the first signs was extreme swelling (in my feet, hands, face). My blood pressure was higher than usual and I had protein in my urine (did a 24 hour collection). Other signs(that I didn't have) include dizziness, headaches and seeing spots. I am now 34 weeks with twins and am very swollen! However my pressure has been normal and no protein in urine. Just make sure you and your doctor keep on top of it because it can creep up very fast!! Good luck

Re: BTDT - Preeclampsia?
For me it was really just extreme swelling; along with protein in urine and high bp.
I was seeing spots on and off my whole pregnancy but I attributed it to all the meds I was on.
I also felt like my heart was racing and I was shaking alot at end...not sure if that was because of the pre eclampsia though

BTDT - Preeclampsia?
for me i didnt have a clue anything was wrong. i had a ton of swelling but i thought thats what happened at 32w. the most notable was that my feet were so swollen that when i walked it felt like my leg bone was going into jelly instead of into my feet. they were almost tingly. i had a few instances of seeing floaters but i thought that was just normal too.
i went to the doctor for a routine visit and as soon as they looked at my swelling/weight gain and did the protein dipstick and it came back positive for protein in the urine they made me do the 24 hour collection. that came back so terrible (normal is 300 or under mine was like 1200) that i was sent to l&d and admitted to antepartum that day. i didnt have high BP at that point. within 5 days, even on hospital bedrest, it escalated to HELLP and my liver shut down and platelets plunged and i had to deliver immediately. BP was never really even the issue, it was the other symptoms. my BP didnt creep up until really the end.
i was told the following were signs - floaters/vision disturbances, epigastric (upper stomach/lower ribcage) pain (i had that one which is how I knew it was HELLP and that i would deliver that day), BP over 140/90, extreme swelling, rapid weight gain, headaches.

Re: BTDT - Preeclampsia?
i was borderline at 34-35w and my doc put me on modified bedrest. my blood pressure was elevated for a few weeks and there was some protein in urine, swollen feet, and baby didnt grow that much in a few week span. i did a 24 hr urine collection and it wasnt high enough for pre -e. they just had me come in 1-2 times per week for blood pressure checks and nst scans. everything ended up being fine, i was induced at 40w5d and baby was 8lbs 5 oz !!

Re: BTDT - Preeclampsia?
I had absolutely no signs or indications at all. I had high blood pressure the whole pregnancy (didn't have it normally) and was on Labetalol since about 18 weeks. I also had glucose intolerance and was put on a GD diet.
My blood pressure towards the end (35+ weeks) was a little high even on the meds, so my OB did blood work. I never had protein in my urine or any swelling at all.
My blood work came back elevated for uric acid and something else (I forget), but basically my OB said that my kidneys and liver were starting to shut down and with my high blood pressure, it was best to deliver then (37 weeks).
