Endo vs directly going to the lab
I'm currently going to the endo every month to get blood drawn. I have to pay a co-pay to her and then to the lab. I don't understand why I can't just go directly to the lab to avoid one of the costs. When I asked she claimed she "had" to see me. I really feel like it's just a ploy to get $$ at this point, because she doesn't want to read the lab results/prescribe new meds if she isn't getting paid. If you were me, would you try to get her to see your side of just suck it up? It's getting expensive! co-pays are 20 each times 2 for however many months I'll have to do this. She also kept prescribing me 90 days worth of pills which made me since I see her basically every 30 days.

Re: Endo vs directly going to the lab
do you also get a bill from the lab for the bloodwork?
if you dont get the lab bill, then it prob works out to be the same (paying the $20 co-pay vs paying for the lab work)...but if you are getting the lab bills too i say go right to the lab.

nope I get a bill from the lab too so that's $40 a month just for the one doctor.

Re: Endo vs directly going to the lab
oh i would def go to the lab instead. do you meet with the endo every time you have blood drawn or just a nurse? if you do meet with her, do you find the meeting worthwhile? The problem is you would need paperwork from the doctor for the lab. Perhaps tell your endo that their hours are not convenient for you and therefore you need to go to the lab so that they give you the paperwork.
i have my blood drawn at my primary care physicians office for my thyriod - but its just a quick few minutes with the nurse and i never have a copay.

Re: Endo vs directly going to the lab
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that if she seeing you because of your pregnancy and must come back monthly you should only pay a co-pay initially all subsequent vists should be no co pay....just like your OB you don't pay for the monthly visits but you pay for the inital one.
