Thoughts on a baptism around holidays.

We don't have DD's birth certificate yet (recd SS card today, so I assume it'll be any day), but DH & I are going to sign up as parishioners at a new local church and inquire about baptizing DD.

She was born 9/28 and I'd rather do it sooner than later.
DH would rather wait until spring time so we can have the party outside.

We won't be having a big party mostly family and a few close friends.

The church does baptisms every Sunday (@12:30) so I'm not too worried about scheduling, but I am worried as it wi be around the holidays be it in December or January.

How would you feel about that?

Would you chose a date in Dec or Jan or wait?

I definitely would try and avoid doing it in December if possible, between the holidays, parties, shopping, etc people are so busy. I think January is fine though. Chat Icon

Lol i just posted a similar question - whether i should plan for jan or wait til spring in nicer weather.
If the weather isnt an issue for u, i dont think jan is a problem at all. I wouldnt do it in dec or maybe the 1st week in jan but mid-late jan, when peoples plans have died down should be fine.

Thoughts on a baptism around holidays.

december is too busy with the holidays - parties and all - unless right at the begining......

We are going with January since it was the only date that worked for us.

Double check with your church because most will not perform baptisms during Lent (we had this issue with DD), so if you wait, you may be waiting until the end of March.

DC is due any day, and we wanted to avoid Dec/beginning of Jan, so we booked it for the end of January. It is very small though, just our families, so I don't think anyone will mind.

ds #2 was born 10/21 and we did his christening the day after Christmas. His grandma came in from Ireland for it. So it was nice it was around the holidays.

Do what is important to you. I didn't want to wait until Spring.

I personally would wait. Holidays are crazy time with my family and if we planned it then a bunch of people would not come.
