Fake nails help!!!!

I feel like such an idiot asking this....

I've been a nailbiter my whole life with the exception of when I used to get tips put on, which the last time was several years ago. I swore I would never do it again because to me they always ended up looking like crap after a couple of days. My nails are short, but not totally down to the bone short. I've been trying to bite less and keep them neat.

Anyway, I have a function tomorrow night and I'm thinking of getting tips again. The last tips I had were acrylic (ugh) , but I know there's so much more out there now.

Somebody please tell me what I should get or ask for. Also, please recommend a GREAT place (Suffolk) that knows what they're doing.

I recommend UV Gel french tips - more expensive, but so much better than acrylic.

I wouldn't do tips, but I'd try silk wraps.

Re: Fake nails help!!!!

I would ask for extensions and not glue on tips. I don't think that is possible with gel but I use silk wraps now and used acrylics for years. Extensions will cost a bit more and some places want to do tips b/c the extensions will take a bit more skill. Silk and acrylic extensions are different from each other but I prefer either of them to tips. It's hard to explain each of them but there is probably info online.

If they are short I would just get a shellac mani. I think short manicured nails look just as nice as long ones.

ITA, if they arent really down to the skin short like i know some nailbiters do, then I suggest shellac as well. This will also help them grow and protect them.
