Disney end of January

DH and I have been to Disney during Martin Luther King week. We found that it wasn't too crowded at all. We would definitely go back again during this time.

The weather was hit or miss. It was definitely comfortable. Sort of like fall here in NY.

I've been in early February. It wasn't that crowded but, the weather was hit or miss - that week it ranged from the low 40s to the mid 70s.

Disney end of January

One of our favorite times to go - since we go often, cooler weather and shorter park hours don't bother us but if it's a once-in-a-lifetime trip, maybe not the perfect time.

Re: Disney end of January

I love January at Disney World. My first 2 trips were during that time.

The park hours are short, but the weather is generally cool, so you can easily spend the whole day in the parks without needing a break. if you have little ones who need a break regardless, you have to think about it. Magic Kingdom hours might be 9am-7pm, so with a break, you're looking at maybe 6 hours of touring. The upside is that the lines are short and you can get a LOT in in 6 hours.

Another con is that there are more likely to be refurbs is in January, and only one water park will be open.

The weather can be all over the place. It can be in the 80's one day and then go down to the 30's at night the next. We were there once during a historical cold snap. We're wearing matching ski jackets in the pics of DH proposing.

I really like it though, overall. I'd still go in January most years but I can't take time from work then Chat Icon

If you go, just pack layers - long sleeve thirt, short sleeve t-shirt, hoodie would work per day and then bring along your winter jacket just in case. Pack gloves and hats just in case, as well as swimsuits.

I think the low crowds and low prices make it a great time to go. Discounts for Jan-Feb 2013 will be open to the public tomorrow and Southwest just opened up a sale, so I am SO tempted and wishing I could take time off for a january trip!

I went once then. I won't go back again. It was too chilly to feel like you were in FLA and the parks close too early for my liking. A little too desolate for me, I like busier times at WDW.

Cooler & shorter lines.....I wanna go!

With young kids, I wouldn't mind the shorter hours....maybe I wouldn't get so burnt out by the looooong day!

Re: Disney end of January

We went 2 years ago the last week of January. It was fantastic. We got an excellent price at the Beach Club b/c it was low season. The parks weren't crowded. Basically no lines at all.

The downside is definitely the weather. I really hate sweating my butt off so the coolness didn't really bother me. But we only got to go in the pool twice so that was disappointing especially since Beach Club has such as an awesome pool.

That said I would absolutely go in Jan again. We went over Easter break this year and while we had fun, January was a much better overall experience.
