How do you get a 3 yr old to listen?
Is there some miracle? Sometimes it's so frustrating. DS is 3 and goes to the local preschool special Ed classes for developmental delays. He gets speech there everyday. I think he's doing better, but the paying attention is so tough. He's always out in La La land when I talk to him. The teachers say he gets distracted very easily and when he's focused on one thing it's hard to get him out of it.
Is a delay thing? A toddler thing? Both?
I think this is the toughest age and mixed with some delays makes it harder. He's a smart boy too. Just tired of calig his name over and over again next to him or asking him something right next to him and I get no answer or response. I can be in another room far away and say something and he can hear me.
Then I'll ask him stuff I know he knows and he answers wrong on purpose and does it in school too. He's a sweet boy, but just wants to be babies sometimes. Hmm... Sounds like a guy thing b.c most men do too.

I feel your pain - my 3 year old is a terrible listener...I think it goes with the territory but I don't recall my DD being such a bad listener at that age which begs the question" is it a male thing?" :)
I usually have to say "listening, listening....where are your ears" and he always turns when I say that but I dont want to have to say that all the time....I am just hoping it improves with time....
I feel your pain if that makes it any easier
