E-Ring/Wedding Band Rash?
I've been married for 2 years now and out of nowhere in the past month I've gotten this terrible itchy rash underneath my rings. They are white gold and I've never had a problem with them until now. I've worn a plain gold clattagh ring on my left hand for years and years now with no problem. It felt like it was from the heat so I took them off for 2 weeks and let it heal. It looked totally fine, no broken skin no redness no itching, so I started wearing my rings again 3 days ago and now it's back. It's so annoying- it's so itchy that I claw my skin until I bleed! What can I do? Do my rings just need a good professional cleaning? Is there anything I can put on my skin now to relieve the itching? I've been careful not to scratch it so I don't have any broken skin but it's driving me bananas.

Re: E-Ring/Wedding Band Rash?
My guess is that maybe they are white gold plated and the bottom layer is made of something you're allergic to. You should take it to a jeweler. If that's the case, it's possible after 2 years, the white gold is wearing off and whatever is under it is being exposed. This is only a guess of course...

Ugh they don't even look very worn. I had them dipped.... hmmm... actually it's been a little over a year. Ugh not the way I wanted to spend my money right now! Thank you though!

Re: E-Ring/Wedding Band Rash?
it could be that water is getting trapped under your rings when you wash your hands. try not wearing them for a week and applying antibiotic ointment. clean your rings (i put small amount simple green and water in the microwave for 30 seconds, take it out and then put your rings in. let them soak for a few hours.)
take your rings off when you wash your hands for a while. see if thats the issue. if not its probably what pennycat said.
good luck!

This happened to me - Clean them really REALLY well ........and don't go to the jewler they just steam them - you need to scrub the soap, dirt, grime etc out of the bands -
I soaked mine in windex and then scrubbed them like crazy with a toothbrush inside and out -
problem solved.

That's actually the first thing I thought it was! I always take them off when I shower and at night, but I've started taking them off when I was my hands, do dishes, anything with water. It's still bothering me though. Ughhh. I'm going to try the cleaning you suggested though, it looks a little grimey underneath. If not, then to get it cleaned and dipped I will go!

Re: E-Ring/Wedding Band Rash?
Honestly, making sure they were dry didn't help me at all. I think I am allergic to one of the alloys underneath the white gold. If I get them dipped once a year I am fine. I LOVE my wedding band so I'm willing to do it.

This! It happened to me a few months ago, water was getting trapped under my rings. I didn't wear them for a few days and I used Neosporin on my finger.

Re: E-Ring/Wedding Band Rash?
This has been happening to me for the last year or so. My rings are white gold - I have never had them dipped. I do not shower or sleep with my rings. I am going to do the thorough scrubbing and see if it works.
