where do you shop for bathroom materials?
We are looking into remodeling our upstairs bathroom but want to purchase our own materials (tile, fixtures, etc). What is the best place to shop for tile at good prices? Lowes or a specific tile place? Which type of.tile is good for bathrooms? Porcelain or ceramic?
Not sure where to start but I welcome all suggestions and advice. Thank you.

Re: where do you shop for bathroom materials?
The Tile shop in Commack was great for tiles. I stayed away form HD and Lowes type places for my tile as I feel like their tile is not the best quality.

i bought marble tiles from home depot when i was redoing my bathroom. they were affordable adn i've had no problems or complaints about them. i also liked that it was one-stop-shopping (i bought the tiles, toilet, sink, shower door, and all the pipes and paint and hardware at the same time)
specialty tile stores will have a wider selection though, obviously, but may be more pricey

Oh ok. What brand of tile did you end up with? Was it porcelain or ceramic?

Re: where do you shop for bathroom materials?
We just finished our 3rd and last bathroom remodel in our home. We have purchased toilets, sinks, rough materials from home depot and lowes. We have mostly marble tile which we bought at world tile and urban archeology. Vanities for two of the bathrooms we had custom built because we couldnt find exactly what we wanted. Some of the toilets, sinks, tubs, shower pans came from Blackman plumbing as well as all of the faucets and shower valves. Home depot and lowes sell lower quality/plastic plumbing parts. The same stuff from Blackman is metal not plastic but it's more money, they also carry brands the warehouse stores don't have.

Remolded 2 baths last year bought almost all materials at HD and Lowes. Great prices, selection and no complaints.
