First Year Doctor Visits
I am going to need to set up an FSA just for my baby and DH's expenses (I am on a separate type of insurance)
How many doctors appointments do you go to in the first year? Well visits and how many sick visits did you go to (baby will be in daycare starting at 4.5 months).
I know there are shots, but are there any additional type of tests that are typically done that would involve paying $?
Baby is due NYE, so the calendar year FSA should work easily for me.

Re: First Year Doctor Visits
We went:
Well visits:
When baby was 4 days old, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, 5 months, 6 months, 8 months, 10 months, 12 months.
Sick visits with my older DS were a lot, because he was in daycare, I cannot remamber how many, but I felt like I was always there.
With my second, no sick visits. The only test I can remember that is standard, was 12 month blood work.

First Year Doctor Visits
Check the insurance cause I only paid copays for sick visits for DS. He is 9 months and is a daycare baby since 8 weeks and he has only had 2 sick visits

Re: First Year Doctor Visits
My insuarance covers all well visits, shots. I only have to pay for sick visits and medicines.
DD is NOT in dc and we have only gone for sick visits a couple of times in her 2 1/2 years. I think I pay $20.00 copay and 7-10 for prescriptions.
I would not put a lot of money in.

Re: First Year Doctor Visits
DS is almost 7 months, but was 2 months premature. He went for a well check when he was released from the NICU. We then had a couple of sick visits a few weeks after. I developed strep and passed it to DS. We went for well visits at 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and now not again until he's 9months. I only pay a co-pay for sick visits and then prescriptions which are around $10 (DS has acid reflux so he's on xantac for it.) Well visits and shots are all covered by insurance.

Re: First Year Doctor Visits
Shots and preventive (well) visits should be free. Our well visits were 2 days after coming home from the hospital, 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months. I'd expect at least a few sick visits the first year, especially since DC is going to daycare. It's hard to predict how much you'll spend though.

Re: First Year Doctor Visits
Definitely check with your insurance b/c we apparently went over the number of allowed well visits. We did have an extra visit or two early on, like in the first two weeks, and we think the ped (who we no longer see) coded one of them improperly.

First Year Doctor Visits
Our well visits don't have a copay. At 5 months, the only copays we've had were for weight checks, which we had 4 or 5 of. We also had to see an orthopedist for her hips the first three months which made for another 5 copays plus seperate copays for 4 ultrasounds. I also saw a LC so that was another copay. Hopefully we won't have many more visits during the next 6 months!
