People and your name choices
So at work the other day a friend of mine (who can be opinioned)was telling a story about a woman a her ds's school and on a side note started saying how she didn't like her kids names one she hated and the other she wasn't a fan of either. It turns out the second name is one of my top choices. I know I should have said something right thenand there but I didn't. Now I feel like if she asks me what names I like she is going to feel like an idiot! Do I just pretend it never happened???
By the way the name is Charlotte Lp

You don't have to tell her what name you like at all if you don't want to and too bad for her if she doesn't like your name choice.
I love the name charlotte, it's so cute!!!
My mom and grandma are VERY opinionated when it comes to me choosing a name for my  - whenever they make a face I go well you'll learn to like it because it's MY choice what we (me and dh) decide to name her.

Exactly! She was the one who made the rude comment, not you.
Charlotte is such a pretty name. It was one of our top choices for a girl.

its a great name.... charlotte's web, and CHarlotte was the sweet on on sex in the city...plus my neighbor who is 95 has that name and she's so pleasant.

I completely agree, there is no need for you to explain anything to her. I wanted to keep our names a secret, we were  but DH was so excited that he kept telling everyone. Our  name is a bit unusual and my MIL and my dad gave us tons of grief over it. Now that he is here they both have accepted it and impo, both look like complete idiots.

1. I LOVE the name Charlotte.
2. People will have opinions no matter what name you choose.
I think you should just let it go. If she asks you later what names you are thinking of, you should just tell her. You'll get used to people being like, "Oh, that's...nice." If it were me, I'd say, "We love the name Charlotte even though I remember you not liking it so much!"
People make comments all the time about the name DH & I chose for this baby. It's uncommon and very old. They say, "maybe you'll change your mind when he gets here" and I always say "I've loved it since I was 15; I'm not changing my mind!" People are jerks...

This is why I don't discuss names with people. I tell some close friends and my mom who won't judge but not random people and not ILs. They are too opinionated and will be like "yeah? You like that name? Really? I like this name yeah this name sounds better." And then I'll just be pizzed at them. So no one will know the names until we name them and they will be told where to shove it if they think of complaining about the names.

My mom hated dd's name when I first told her now she loves it!

It can be very annoying when people make comments about the name you picked! I got a lot of comments b/c we're naming the baby after DH and people kept saying "oh no don't do jr."
Anyway, in this case, its tough because she had no idea Charlotte was one of your top contenders (which BTW is a beautiful name). I'm sure she didn't mean anything bad by it, since she didn't even know you like. But anyway the bottom line is- Who cares?? As long as you and Dh love the name, that's all that matters!!!

People will have opinions no matter what. No name you choose will please everyone...so that's why you only have to worry about your husband and you.
This is also a huge reason I won't tell people the names we chose until after the baby is born. Our immediate family knows and has been sworn to secrecy.

I love the name Charlotte! I've been keeping mum about our names bc I know people can be asses. DH on the other hand has opened his big mouth and gets the full brunt of opinions. Just dont say anything until the LO gets here

Who cares. If she says anything tell her when she carries a baby for 9 mo then she is free to name her baby whatever she likes. I doubt she will tell you to your face that she doesn't like it. She will probably just think back to your convo and feel like a moron.

I would take pleasure in making her feel like a jerk. If she asks, just tell her as though you never had the previous conversation. Then just sit back and watch her face. 
She's an idiot. Some people have foot-in-mouth disease. I have a colleague who is verrrrrrrrrry similar. When she makes comments that go against my ideology, I just smile.
I can't wait to tell her all of the things I will do/did with my newborn that "horrify" her.
