Intense Cramping
Hi everyone...I am a regular poster but not ready to come out just yet. I am 5 1/2 weeks pregnant with #2 (and possibly #3). The dr saw 2 sacs on the ultrasound yesterday. (I went through fertility treatments). I was feeling pretty good, sore boobs on and off, some queasiness in the mornings here and there. Some very light period-type cramping on occasion. Last night I was sitting on the couch watching TV and all of a sudden I have the most INTENSE period like cramps...scared the crap out of me. It lasted for about a half an hour and was at the bottom of my pelvis, near where my legs meet my abdomen. I got chills and had to grab a blanket. I also had some lower back pain. No bleeding though, thank God. I was scared to death. I drank some water and put my feet up and it subsided. This morning I just feel sore which is how I've felt anytime after I've had bad period cramps.
Has anyone experienced this? Could it have been growing pains (stretching)? I emailed the nurse at my doctor's office and she said to just keep an eye on it and increase my fluid intake.
Any thoughts?

Re: Intense Cramping
I am having twins, and I did have round ligament pains very early on. But they were sharp and would subside quickly. Nothing as intense as what you are describing so early on...I would call the RE, and just have him do a baby check so that you can feel like you know what is going on. I know it's hard to sit and wait and worry. RE's are usually pretty understanding.
Hope all is well

Re: Intense Cramping
Is it possible you hyperstimulated? This sounds like that. Definitely call!

Re: Intense Cramping
I did email the RE and the nurse said if it continues today to come back in for a check. But so far I just feel sore down in that area. Nothing intense today (and hopefully there won't be)...I don't know what to do...

Re: Intense Cramping
I'd just go in to check. I'm super paranoid and call my dr for everything but it's a twin thing. I also had round ligament pain very early. Like 5 or 6 weeks. And I had AF cramping up to about 22 weeks or so. It was probably mostly from dehydration.

Re: Intense Cramping
Hope it doesn't happen again.
Just to ease your mind I had some pretty intense cramping one night early in this pregnancy. I was throwing up and eventually going to the bathroom too. Turned out to be nothing!

You know what though..I was SO thirsty during the day and drank water all day..when I got home at 6 I did not have any more until 9 when this occurred, and I was really thirsty. So I am thinking it could have been a factor. I called the nurse again, waiting to hear back...I don't know if having a sono would do anything really besides ease my mind...

I went through treatments as well and had a very similar experience. I thought it was major onstipation at first.Turned out my ovaries were the size of tennis balls. It went away! Feel better!

Re: Intense Cramping
It sounds too low to be your uterus cramping, and if you don't have any bleeding, it's a good sign.
When is your appt next week? I'd go in just to be sure you're not hyperstimulated, but in the meantime drink TONS of water.

Not til next Thursday! I was in the office yesterday for my first sono, feeling very positive about things, then this happened. I don't know how I am going to make it to next Thursday. I am drinking a ton of water, I've been to the bathroom at work 5 times already between 9-2.
