Painting a dresser
I want to try painting an old dresser white for the baby's nursery?
I'm clueless.
I know sand it down first but what type of paint should I use?
Any other helpful tips?
thanks!

Re: Painting a dresser
I recently painted an old armoire. Yes, sand it first. You should use a semi-gloss latex paint. I used a roller for the large flat surfaces and a small angled brush for inside corners, legs, etc.
ETA: After sanding, use a primer. I actually had the primer tinted to the color of the paint I used.

Re: Painting a dresser
I swear by this paint http://www.anniesloan.com/acatalog/copy_of_How_to_use_the_paint.html when I paint furniture now. It's easy to use and doesn't require a ton of prep, but it does give a more shabby chic look, not sure if thats what you are going for.

Re: Painting a dresser
i used a basic cheapy primer and semi gloss latex for the color. I also did a topcoat and allowed that to dry for about 4 days (over a humid summer) before placing anything on the painted surface. Worked out brilliantly
