btdt moms- those who only had a convertible carseat
I gave a lot of thought to a convertible verse infant car seat (and also the frame stroller to go along with it). i decided on a convertible..it just will fit our lifestyle better. anyway, my only concern is that i thought i once heard of hospitals denying parents to bring home the baby in the convertible. has anyone heard of this? i dont understand how they can do this...the carseat clearly is made for babies from newborn (4-5 lbs usually) and up...
so am i going to have a problem? hope not.

I have no idea on this but I would probably call my hospital to verify. If your convertible is certified for the weight of your newborn then I would think they should honor it.

As long as it is installed correctly, the harnesses fit correctly and the child exceeds the weight minimum I don't see how they can deny it. I can however see them sending a nurse down to check that there is a seat, to exclude them from any liability of there's not.

This is actually an interesting question. They made us bring the infant seat into the hospital and watched DD in it for like 30 minutes to an hour before they let us leave. I don't know if they'd make you do that with the convertible though. Maybe call the hospital and ask? They never checked the install in the car -- only watched DD in the seat itself before we left.

It should be right on the seat itself. Mine has stickers that say the weights and correct positioning as well as the expiration date of the seat. The instruction booklet will have the weights too.

I don't know the answer to your question - but I am curious as to why you decided against the carrier?
