exhaustion
I'm only 5 weeks and I'm already soooo tired all the time. I work full time M-F and then Coach ice hockey T, TH, and Sat. Any suggestions on how to improve my sleep habits and give myself more energy? Last night I demonstrated a few drills for the girls and I was so out of breath one of my athletes asked me why I was so out of breath. I just said I was out of shape! geesh, the season just started, is it going to get any better?

Re: exhaustion
I was tired throughout my whole 1st trimester. I started feeling better by week 14. I'm currently 21 weeks and I have my on and off days. Monday and Tuesday, I was great, didn't even feel pregnant and felt like I could run a marathon. Today is the total opposite. All I want is my bed...very tired and it's so hard to keep my eyes open.
Good Luck!!

Re: exhaustion
Everyone is different - I remember ppl telling me i would get this BURST of energy by second trimester...it never really came but I was less tired until these days (27 weeks). Just try to get some naps in, your body is working hard so it deserves it!

Re: exhaustion
the good news is that there are days that you will not feel like this. the nto so good news is that when you do have a day that you fee like this, its hard to fight it.
i was never a napper and still hard for me to nap even when i am exhausted but what i started to try and would help a tiny bit was to take a power nap (or rest atleast) in the middle of the day or right before the usual time that you start to feel like that. it became so bad for me that i actually brought an outdoor reclining chair to work and would use it for 30 minutes to take these rests. now that its nice weather out, i take lunch in the car and lean the seat back to try and sleep or just rest.
try going to sleep even a half an hour earlier too.
like i said, its hard to fight and nothing works like a miracle but most women do have days that they dont feel completely exhausted at some point.

Re: exhaustion
I'm 19w3d and still haven't gotten my energy back. By 9pm I'm starting to get tired.
As for being out of breath - that's a normal part of pregnancy. Your body is on its way to producing 50% more blood and growing another human being. Just remember if you're being active to keep your heart rate under 140bpm.

Re: exhaustion
i did start to get my energy back at the end of the first trimester - around 11 weeks. up until then i would be sleeping by 9pm or napping at some point throughout the day
i would speak to your doctor about continuing to coach hockey - could be dangerous if you fall, get hit etc

I'm not too worried about coaching while pregnant. I've been skating almost as long as I have been walking. Was on skates at 18mo. I will be having a chat with my team once I start telling people and explain that they cannot skate behind me or anything else. They are 10 and under so it isn't too much danger for getting hit just maybe getting tripped. In the three years I've coached I've fallen once a season, so I'm not too worried. I will talk to my doctor though.
ETA: I also was only demonstrating because my assistant was not there yesterday, usually I don't demo!

exhaustion
the exhaustion is terrible. everyone lied to me and told me it would get better in the 2cd trimester - that iw ould get this huge burst of energy...they mus thave been smoking the good sh!t because that burst of energy never came for me. LOL. i'm tired all the time. its horrible. at work i can barely keep my eyes open. by 10pm, i'm ready for bed. it does get better than what is it in the 1st trimester, but at least for me, not much. However, I agree with Jams - you may have been skating all your life, but during prgnancy its a whole different ball game. talk to your OBGYN and see what he reccomends.

Re: exhaustion
Just got my energy back last week at 13 weeks. Before that I was sometimes almost in tears I was so tired by the end of the day taking care of my 20 month old twins.
