Godparent/Sponsor Question?
Has anyone thought of or had someone who is not of Catholic Faith act as a sponsor in additon to a godparent?
My cousin is Christian and my BIL Catholic and I heard that as long as one Godparent is a practicing Catholic, the other could act as a sponsor or witness....
Does anyone know if this is true?

That is no problem. I had one who was catholic and one who wasn't. They didn't even ask about it.

DH's brother is not Catholic, I am not anticipating any problems, I heard that parrishes vary though.

You must speak with your parish. In most cases, the non-catholic person is a sponsor not a godparent and is not named on the baptism certificate.
But one of my friends needed to prove that both godparents were baptized and confirmed in the Church.

The Godmother of my son is Jewish and the Godfather is Catholic. As long as one of the godparents were catholic, they said it was okay. They didn't put her name on his certificate, but I added it myself.
