Anatomy Scan questions....

I have my anatomy scan tomorrow, is it internal or external? (Please say external, please say external).

And when did you go for your anatomy scan? My due date was moved back to the original date I was given so tomorrow I will be 17w3d. Is that too early? We already know we're having a boy but is it too soon for them to see what they'll be looking for at this point?

i think it might be too early for them to tell ...but when i scheduled they told me i had to come in between 18-20 weeks. Because we are going away in between that interval, I will be 19w when we do our A/S. If for some reason they can't see everything, I would imagine they would tell you to come back...

I have my 16w anatomy scan at 5:45 today... I am 16w 3D....
we are hoping they can see. From what I hear, they should be able to, but when I made the appt my Dr told me we would not find out during this sono

I'll let you know if we get any info... but I won't share the info until we tell our families first! Since everyone found out so abruptly that we were pregnant due to our crazy situation and miracle, we wanted to make this announcement a little more special!

Our level 2 is on 10/5... so I guess we will just wait until then if not.

i was told to come 18-20 weeks by my doctor. when i went to make the appt they pushed me as close to the 20 week mark as possible. no clue if its internal or external - appt is the end of this month

maybe call up and see if they want you to wait a week?

My A/S was external. I had mine at 19w5d ( was told to schedule between 18-20 weeks). They were able to see everything clear as day...but LO stoppped cooperating at the end and rolled over only showing his/her back. I had to come back a week later at 20w5d for them to get the images they needed of the chest cavity; face; chin etc.

I tend to have my appointments at the tail end of the window (NT scan was at 13 weeks); but if they scheduled it for you they wouldn't have you come in and waste your/their time if they didn't think they could get the images they needed.

My A/S was at LIJ.

Most drs usually do the Level 2 and anatomy scan together. This is done between 18-22 weeks. If you're a few days shy of 18w, I'm not sure what they'll do. It probably depends on how the baby is measuring and if they can see everything they want to see.

I WOULD have been 18 weeks tomorrow had they not changed the date (again). Maybe since I'm there every two weeks anyway they figure it doesn't matter... I mean at this point I feel like I should get a plaque with my name on it, when techs and doctors who I have never met before recognize you feel like a "regular"...

I called and they said to still come in... maybe this is technically the "early anatomy" scan and they just didn't do it because that was when I was getting the amnio? Who knows, I feel like I am being poked or stabbed with a needle every two weeks, they could really be making these appointments up and I'd have no idea. At least I get to see our baby boy again and my insurance has no limits on sonos so why not.

mine said 18 - 22 as well. but regardless, since you have no sono limits, then not a huge deal if you have to come back for some extra measurements. a lot of people have to return just bc babies aren't always in the right position!

good news is that it is external AND no blood drawn!

mine was at 19 weeks and it was external but i always have a internal too

Update.... they were able to tell the sex yesterday at our anatomy scan at 16w3D

yes it's external

I had an early anatomy scan at 16w (where we found out gender) and then another one at 20w. I think you should be okay!

I did mine at 20 wks and they did a internal and external.

Ours was external and we did ours at 18 weeks, they were able to tell us what our sex was at that time and I had it confirmed this past grown sonogram :) still team pink!
