Passed GD, but failed anemia :(
Just found out that my hemoglobin is super low. It's not surprising, since I have beta thalassemia minor, and tend to register anemic. Unfortunately with pregnancy, my levels are so low, that I need to get a blood transfusion. Has anyone had that before? I'm wondering if that will hurt.

Same thing, I passed glucose but was told very anemic...they changed the pills and if it does not improve they r going to try through a iv
They discussed the probable need of a transfusion with my c section
I am not lookoing forward to it but with all my bleeding issues am also not surprised
From what I heard it does not hurt at all
But I would love more info if anyone has

Yay for no GD booo for anemia...
I've had blood transfusions done after surgery before and from what I remember it doesn't hurt. My mom has had them done with her anemia and she says they don't bother her.
Maybe ask about the venofer infusions. I get them done for my anemia every other week and it helps maintain my levels. It takes forever (like 1-2 hours per appointment) but it's painless. My hematologist is on 81st and Lex if you need a rec.

i had several blood transfusions after delivery. i was wayyy medicated but im pretty sure it doesnt hurt. its really just an IV that gives you blood product. you might feel cold from it but if your blood levels are low you might be feeling cold anyway! good luck!
