Expectations of cleaning people (esp from those of you who are fanatics lol)
Let me start by saying i am aware it is impossible for a cleaning person to meet ALL your stadards when it comes to your house being clean (esp if you are a fanatic ) but....
What is reasonable and not when it comes to expectations?
Is it reasonable to assume base moldings should be wipe down? Fan to be wiped? Little ledges on windows wiped? Molding above doors wiped?
Does your cleaning person do these things?
We hired someone and this is the first time she is here (first time weve ever hired a cleaning person) we are already clean neat people. We do not have clutter. She spent 1.5 hrs in our bathroom (not big tub sink toilet) and the tops of the tile were dusty.
The base moldings in our bedroom were still dusty and so were window ledges an our windows slide from side to side so the one side gets dusty, wasnt wiped. And she is defnot rushing shes been here since 830 and has cleaned bathroom 2 bedrooms and just started second bathroom.
Are we expecting too much?

Re: Expectations of cleaning people (esp from those of you who are fanatics lol)
I have had a three different cleaning ladies over the last 10 years, and they come every other week.
None of them have every cleaned every nook and cranny or dusted every single surface of my house (or, back in the day, apartment). My current cleaning lady cleans the kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, floors, vacuum, and dust furniture -- the major things. I am happy with that, and think it's worth the money she charges me, because it saves me from having to spend a ton of time to scrub floors and bathrooms and that type of thing. It keeps the house reasonably clean at all times, but I definitely have to clean in between, and if there are areas I want to "fine tune," I do it myself. But that's just me - I'm ok with it.
I don't think there's a right or wrong in terms of expectations. I've learned that you have to speak up and be very specific about what you want done. So I think, if you want ceiling fans dusted, moldings and baseboards wiped down, etc., you should just let your cleaning lady know your expectations. Those aren't really big deals to do, so she'll probably do it once you point it out. If you wanted a lot of big jobs done on a regular basis that is more than standard cleaning, then she would probably do it for more $.
In my view, your expectations are not unreasonable, but I also don't think it's unreasonable that she overlooked some things. I would just ask her next time to make sure she does x. y, and z, and then see if you are happier with the cleaning job next time.

My cleaning lady does a deep clean once a month, which is moldings, fans etc. Then does your everyday cleaning the other weeks. I only have them every other week so I get one deep clean a month and one regular clean. I never really notice things left undone to be honest. I mean once in a while I may say oh they didn't dust here etc... But like a PP said it's impossible for them to get every sq. inch.

1.5 hrs in bathroom of a neatness fanatic?..what was shr doing in there? Taking a bath? Like OP said iwould go over what's important to you so ur on the same page. If what u want takes longer then the standard cleaning then u will have to pay more.

Re: Expectations of cleaning people (esp from those of you who are fanatics lol)
Thank you. She definetly didn't do an amazing job i have a finished basement with a bathroom (laundry too 1 room DHs office and waiting room) and she was only down there an hour (which was wierd since the upstairs bathroom took longer than that) the treadmill downstairs was still covered in dust, definetly untouched.
and I could understand her not getting to everything, but considering this was her first day here, I did think she would have done a deep clean.
We are going to try someone else just to be able to compare to see what we should typically expect.
